    Women's Basketball Megathread

The time has come to pay more attention here. Interst in the Women's program has been trending up for a while.

In the last two two recruiting cycles Katrina Merriweather and her staff have recruited a 2024 4 star scoring PG in Chloe Mann out of of Duncanville TX and a 2025 5 star guard in Dee Alexander out of Purcell Marian. Pair this with multiple visits from highly rated transfer players and I think this program should be headed back to the NCAA tournament pretty shortly.

I'd even be bold enough to say as of the date my posting this that Katrina Merriweather is out recruiting Wes Miller.

Good news: The women's team have won 3 games in a row, which most recently included victories over New Mexico and Alabama A&M at the Florida Gulf Classic in Naples.

Bad news: The program/athletic department is being mocked for playing in a (mostly empty) preK-12 school gym as a Big 12 school.

Alexander is definitely missed. Big 12 power rankings and UC is in a group all by itself. Number 16. Big 12 Women’s Basketball Power Rankings: November 17th, 2025
It has to get better for the team.

I'm not encouraged by the rough start but I think the team is still adjusting to not having Dee Alexander on the floor. Also missing Chloe Mann from last season who was a 4 star recruit that transferred out. I never heard the reasoning for that one but she landed at Grand Canyon which makes you think a bit

The Bearcats had a one point lead at the half and a 3 point lead with under 5 minutes to play, but lost 82-77 at Penn St. Reagan Jackson had another nice game, leading with 3.4 net points. Freshman Kylie Torrence bounced back to lead the team with 18 points and a 2.8 DBPM thanks to 3 steals. Alliance Ndiba grabbed 8 boards in just 19 minutes. Mya Perry struggled tonight, going just 6 for 18 from the field with 4 turnovers.

The Bearcats fell to Lehigh 88-85 at home in their opener. Mya Perry scored 31 and Reagan Jackson added 21. The freshman trio of DeVillasee, Crawford, and Torrence really struggled. They combined for negative 11 net points and each posted a negative 5 BPM or worse.

Mitchell is only a HS freshman, so it'll be a while before she can take official visits. She's a 5'8" combo guard from Indy Pike. Per "Woods Recruiting", she's unafraid of contact, defensive disruptor and floor general. In the GUAA 15U circuit (similar to the men's AAU), she has put up double-doubles against elite competition.
