Thiam improved as the season went on, recording a 4.7 BPM in B12 play.
I should clarify that Thiam is not in the portal as of now. I'm hoping Bearcatattack is our own version of Trilly Donovan, having first mentioned Haynes here.

      • Here is an update on Dillion Mitchell from 247 Sports. He is presently talking to Vanderbilt, Florida, Virginia Tech, and Florida State. There is no timetable for his decision. It makes sense that he would pursue an SEC or ACC school given that he is from Florida. Good luck to him.

I got my cart ahead of the horse and didn't check before posting that. There's a guy on twitter that throws out "commitments" in jest. I learned my lesson. Fool me once...

No worries. I've been fooled plenty.

            • Not a single Bearcat has committed as of today! As I said a week back! This many players hit the portal, something's just not right!

I truly wonder if Miller was seriously close to being fired? More than we realize, regardless of the $M!

No Thiam is not in the transfer portal but there might be a certain UCF assistant coach UC is looking to fill Drew Adams position with. And this coach certainly has connections with Thiam

Committed to UCF per Rothstein. Maybe one of the dominoes leading to Thiam's departure?

Edit: UCF has also brought in John Bol, 7'2 C from Ole Miss.

Of the approximately 2,050 kids in the portal, only 19% have committed anywhere to-date. UC has three in now, with more to come. No one's rushing into this. There are a ton of players left. It's just a matter of whether very many of them are worth it.

I just saw a tweet (or whatever it's called now) from Fran Frachilla that he spoke to a P5 assistant, who said the elite players are essentially spoken for. His school is "shopping at TJ Maxx" now.

Seems like a pretty good get -- 13.0 and 10.7

UCF also seems to be losing Jordan Ivy-Curry (portal yesterday) and the German kid who averaged less than 4 ppg but had 11 versus UC in The Crown just left for Wofford.

So my question is why do they want to push this young man out by bringing in replacements?

UC has reached out per Sam Kayser

With an expansion to a 15-man roster, teams can load up, share the minutes, and keep guys fresh. Plus it helps with foul trouble.

                            • This is just the way it is now for most schools. All the players want to see what they are worth. However, unlike an employment situation there are are no repurcussions for doing so. You are not hurting your chance for promotion by letting your boss know you aren't happy. Your entire career as a college athlete is only 4-6 years so you don't want to try and "work your way up the ladder" or start "at an entry level position". You want
max cash now from whoever is willing to pay. The great majority of these players wont earn as much in the rest of their lives as they will in this 4-6 year window. My point is: no one is moving on because they don't like the coach or his system or the wins and losses. As an aside I would expect that the IRS has set up a special unit to audit the returns of college athletes.

Traore doesn't excite me. Only a 0.2 BPM in his third season after negative BPMs in each of his first two years. Below average rebounder and provides almost no rim protection at 6'11. He had the same block rate as Tyler Betsey. Only 6 blocked shots for the entire season and none since January.
