If Schertz turns it down, NC State is expected to turn to Tennessee's Justin Gainey, a former Wolfpack guard

If Schertz bolts for NC State (or anywhere else), the new school will need to cover his buyout, the amount of which is unknown. SLU, being a private school, do not need to disclose contract details.

Utah State is set to hire longtime Northern Iowa coach Ben Jacobson.

Jacbson's UNI had the iconic win in 2010 over #1 Kansas in the second round to make the Sweet 16, and he led them to back-to-back Round of 32 appearances in 2015, 2016 so he could have made the jump to another job many years ago. UNI reached its first Tournament this season in 10 years.
