I'm all for Evans being retianed if he can help keep part of the current roster.

I hate to see another mass exodus where we're rebuilding ffrom square one. If Calhoun is hired, I wonder if any of his current players will follow?

NIL got them to come I believe. It might get them to stay. I do think that a coach's style/personality has impact, but $$ surely speaks. UC has some nice NIL funds, a P4 conference with national exposure.

Bring in Bob Huggins to coach defense 🤪

Chad mentioned Calhoun has a great mind for offense, but isn't very good at coaching defense, but recognizes it and hired an assistant coach to be the defensive coordinator. Wonder who Calhoun could target for the defensive coordinator role if he comes here.

On the list of things that will never happen, Wes would make a great defensive coordinator/Associate Head Coach . Wes not hiring an offensive coordinator may been a large part of his downfall.
Agree fully with this. I've been wishing for an offensive assistant under Wes for years. Any great leader needs to put their ego aside and be an effective delegator. If Calhoun is willing to do that, I feel much better about him. He still hasn't figured out the defensive glass though. Some better athletes might help.

It's unfortunate will lose Kayden Allen, I seriously doubt he'll still want to attend UC.

Yeah, Chad talked about it in the podcast (I assume he has connections with Calhoun through the Huggin tree). Calhoun realized he's not good enough at coaching defense and hired Eric Haut (who recently accepted the HC job atTarleton State) to essentially be the defensive coordinator. Also said Utah St. runs a match-up zone in the Mick style, which may contribute to their defensive rebounding woes.

Maybe a bump the first year, but things change quickly today. Let us wait and see who the new coach brings in. I know JC wants him to succeed (win) so he may be given even more $$$$.

I think coaching style/personality still plays a big role, yeah money money makes it a lot easier for a guy to cut down his options, but there are usually going to be several schools (or sometimes many more) willing to pay in the same range and from there the coach is the next biggest factor. Sometimes a guy may even be willing to take a bit of a pay-cut in order to play for a certain coach.

UC Bearcats need Bob Huggins. How about Utah State's Jerrod Calhoun?
Jason Williams rules out Huggins really quick.

Yeah perhaps for an upper classman with eyes on the NBA who have already been paid, but many a poor incoming frosh looks at the cash. They know they can transfer.

How did Huggs leave -- did he butt heads with some of the deep pockets while he was here.

Yes he did, very deep pockets.

Not sure I agree. I know UC’s defensive rep is high but imo think is somewhat overrated. Look at how they defended Trey Carroll of Xavier, and when UCF started taking it to the basket last game.
