I would feel a bit better if we had another big ( 4/5 ) that could contribute not as a project but as a sufficient means to spell others, but we'll wait and see what transpires.

It's not going to happen. Per 247sports.com's ranking of the Top 250 players who hit the portal, only 6 remain unsigned. Of those, 3 are PF's (0 C's). Chad Brendel has stated that UC will not be adding any of them. Any player outside of those 250 wouldn't be considered as viable contributors for a B12 team.

They can add an international big.

UC brought in Jordi Rodriguez in August last year and Lucas Atauri (almost) in September.

True. That's where the money reinserts itself.

Each year, bearcatjournal.com runs a 12-hour marathon podcast for "513 Day". In addition to talking to Jordan Bischel, Scott Satterfield, John Cunningham, and others, they had an extremely interesting half hour with Jerrod Calhoun. That came five hours in. It's on youtube.com. I highly recommend it (and the other segments as well).

Here is the Calhoun video, just over 30 mins

He mentioned they'll get 13 scholarship players and maybe a walk on or two. Will also be adding another staff member in the coming weeks.

WOW what a difference a couple of months make.

We have a HC in charge who is both organized and confidant. I compare indecisiveness and being "pissed:.

                A couple of take aways:

He recruits winners with that attitude.

he believes we will have quality PGs and one with very good "COURT AWARENESS". Oh yeah baby.

He spoke about taking these guys and coaching them up. Teaching them passing and expecting them to pass.

He will make the team more transparent with media getting more access and open scrimmages against quality teams. That should bring in more NIL $$$$$.

He said many more things but have a listen. It all may not pan out, but so far, his record has panned out, and he is a breath of fresh air for the team.

I liked that he mentioned Huggs.

I especially liked that he mentioned big time recruits are coming. I always believed give him a first year pass and watch out. I do think the Cats may be better than what we expect the first year though.

PS CJC said winning was the metric he looked at.

Coach speak. We brought in players from two 20 loss teams, a 17 loss team, and a 15 loss mid major. They're productive. That's what he's really looking at.

"Shon puts winning at a premium," Miller said. "He's a Bearcat. He fits here.

"First and foremost, [Keyshawn Tillery] is a winner," Miller said. "You can talk about all the things he does on the basketball court, but he's a big-time winner, leader and young man.

"We're thrilled to welcome Kerr to Cincinnati," said head coach Wes Miller. "We've played against Kerr multiple times over the last few years and know first-hand how much he impacts winning. He's a relentless competitor that brings a wealth of experience and winning to our program.

"Jalen [Celestine] is a big-time wing," said head coach Wes Miller. "He has a ton of experience at the highest levels of college basketball, and he understands how to win.

"Jalen Haynes is a beast," said head coach Wes Miller. "He brings a level of physicality to our frontcourt that will translate immediately in the Big 12. He plays with a high motor, he attacks the backboards and he values winning.

the thing is I stopped believing that WM had any Credence or understood as a coach the concept of winning. I am giving CJC an opportunity before I get upset over his favorable metric. Then again, I guess that is why they still play the game on the court.

A quote from CJC (on 513 Day) that shouldn't go unmentioned is that he said David Iweze was a top 9 player on Utah State by the end of last season. A very promising update for the biggest "unknown" on the roster at the moment.

UC has signed Deshaun Vaden, a Mount Union (DIII) center from Cleveland. I imagine he will be a walk-on. Or a very end of the bench practice player. He averaged 3.5 blocks in 15.6 mins/game last year.
