---- Nothing new, just that all the presentations were wrapped up so "let the leaks and speculations begin." Fingers crossed. Im an optimist in general except when it comes to Cincinnati Sports. Seems our teams are Charlie Brown and that "Fate", colluding with the NCAA, NFL, MLB etc... is Lucy, pulling that ball away.

If Boren and Bowlsby get expansion by four, the Big 12 will be saved, except maybe Texas defecting. If not, here are some points to consider because you're right, the Big 12 will cease to exist after 2024.

    1. You're right - no one will take Texas with LHN or their ego.

    2. I'm sure Texas has told TT, we wouldn't join another conference without you; however, no conference would take TT to appease Texas.

    3. Kansas and Ok State are safer, because they have value as joined with Oklahoma
    A) The B!G has to be adjacent states rule, so need to add them to get to OU.
    B) The SEC is better spot for OU and OSU will make nice package. Depends if OU wants to rejoin Nebraska.

    2. BYU (football only) - there is no way the Big 12 passes on BYU, academics, fan base, facilities, good teams
    3. UC - great teams when in better conference, tv market, bridge to WV, many ties to Big 12 presidents, research, academics, recruiting base
    4. Either Houston or UCONN - UCONN would be my first choice but can't rule out unpredictable and irrational politics

I think AF and BYU are football only to resolve issues such as travel and no play Sundays. Also, both are located in the Mountain time zone so they will not feel isolated with each in the conference and not being the only “football only” school. And “football only” is a compromise with the television partners who will soon be handing the Big 12 more money. AF and BYU will be in the same division.

I think that if it goes four teams, it will be a compromise. Houston will not get the needed votes to be number 11 or 12. If Texas even cares for expansion and if they really do want Houston, they will go with four teams and Houston will be on of the last two. There was speculation that BYU and UC would begin next year and Houston and a 4th team would begin in 2018. That may still be the case. Like you, I would prefer UConn over Houston. As the conference stands now, there is no need for another Texas school. However, if UT and TT leave for the SEC, it would make sense to have Houston around. I just can not see anyone wanting to take UT though. Maybe an arrangement like ND has with the ACC, a part-time player/part-time independent. As far as teams potentially leaving, I am not sure the BIG will pick up Kansas. I am not sure anyone will pick up OK State. As I have said before, UConn is more valuable than Kansas and no conference seems to be interested in UConn.

I am starting to believe that there will be zero teams added. All we can worry about is taking care of current business and that means beating Purdue on Saturday.

The free opening was nice, but left room for additional political considerations....

i was just thinking about the whole TT angle of this. if UC doesn't get into the B12 and Houston does, i gotta think there's going to be a lot more people calling for his job - rightly or wrongly - given how quickly our team's regressed under him and how quickly Houston has ascended.

for the record, my $$$ is still on UC getting in, assuming expansion does happen.

If we could, we would. The ACC is an all-around better fit. That's not to say we're a bad fit for the Big 12. UC is as worthy of a seat to the P-5 (or Super Four) as at least half the current teams. We simply don't have the traditional relationships and now have to take the best thing to come along, which is the Big 12.
