It is ironic that we were thinking that political correctness would cause BYU to be dropped and cause us to be in for sure. If BYU's stance doesn't change, political correctness may cause us to be left out along with everyone else.

The only thing I can think of as to why this won't come to a close in Oct. is that they're trying to give BYU time to change their honor code. Whether BYU will actually do that is highly questionable. If they do, I think this is done with UC and BYU. If BYU chooses to stick to their guns, I suspect no expansion will happen because there is no consensus on any other combination due to Texas and their insistence on Houston.

I've kind of given up. It's hard to care anymore with how long they are dragging this out. There is no point in paying attention to it anymore because the Big12 has no idea what they are doing. Until there is an official announcement all the rumors and hearsay are worthless. Let's just hope we can salvage a good season, Miami better be a win!

There's a part of me that would like to see Houston get invited to the Big 12 (along with us), and Tom Herrman stay as their head coach, and have Houston crush Texas every year for the next 30 years. But only a small part of me wants that, cause I don't want Charlie Strong to get fired.
I'd be okay with any scenario that gets UC in the Big 12.

Only more rumors and writer speculation in this sports writer poll. The writers of representatives for each of the current 10 Big 12 schools selected the finalists from current 11 schools rumored to be in the running. The writer selections are UConn, Rice, SMU, Cincinnati, BYU and Houston. Obviously there is a big bias toward former SWC schools based on these results.

You're right. I forgot about WVU. They might win the Big 12 this year.

On a side note, ND played themselves out of the playoffs again.

Texas loses to Cal, and Oklahoma loses their 2nd game already (badly I might add).
Looks like the Big12 presidents will have lots of time on their hands over the holidays to play their little expansion games cause theyre certainly not going to have a team in the playoffs (again).

    4) Entertainment value is no comparison - is there really even a choice to go see a game against almost anyone in the B12 vs the majority of schools in the AAC ? Any sport.

Come on. I empathize with you that it's frustrating, but let's be serious about the discussion...
You're right I'm tired of all of it. The Big 12 looks more inept now than the old Big East did, but that perception can be moderated somewhat by extending the GOR. I just don't want a repeat of what happened when the Big East folded, that didn't work out so well for us. As for entertainment value, to me the biggest opportunity would be hosting Kansas at 5/3 arena on Big Monday.

The worst part of Texas joining another conference is that there are limited slots and the offer would be Texas only, not Texas plus TT or Texas plus TCU, etc...
Let me start by saying you're far more fluent on this issue than I am. But would the president and wealthy alums at UT sign up to join a conference (the ACC) that requires all their sports teams to travel at least 1,000 miles for an event ( Georgia Tech in Atlanta is the closest ACC school to UT =970 miles)??
Texas in the same conference with Syracuse, Pitt, BC, etc?? I bet their Olympic sports teams will love that.
