The interviews are over and UC "checks the most boxes...".
The interested schools sign non-disclosure agreements which likely means if they pair down the candidates to 5 for a second interview, we most likely won't know there even is a second round, much less who is or isn't being included.
Throw in horse trading and that it's the Big 12 and none of these articles can accurately predict what will happen or when. Even the "inside sources" can only leak the position their school is advocating and their feel or intuition on how well their advocacy is being received.
The fact that UC continues to be prominently mentioned and we aren't doing crazy public campaigning, are good indicators. Every school in the candidate pool has issues, but if you compare us to draft prospects, we are solid, not spectacular. UC is more like drafting a mixture of Stephen Curry and an offensive right tackle....we will make occasional big successful splashes and consistently protect the QB. BYU, Houston, UConn and 1-2 others are neck and neck with UC.
At this point, the best rumor I hope to hear is that the Big 12 has decided (maybe not announced, but decidedly pursuing) a four team expansion. Until there is an official invitation, that is best we can get right now.

Would the news about the UC Law College staying on campus be some how related?
BTW, UC is gaining the most interest.... http://sportsday.dallasnews.com/coll...ting-attention

I guess that Houston's frantic behavior means that their invite is no sure thing, whereas our (and UConn's) relative quiet bodes well.
No sense campaigning if you know you're in.
Houston's mega donor Tilman Fertitta just put down a chunk of change to remodel Hofheinz Pavilion for 2018-2019. Interesting timing and an obvious push for Big 12 inclusion. In case you're wondering where his money comes from, he's the sole owner of Landry's restaurants.

i'm in the camp of 'i'll believe it when i see it' - but tying two above posts together, chuck carlton from DMN also said he planned on going to BYU but was denied interviews. i don't know if anyone wants to read anything into when you overlap it with greg swaim claiming byu and cincy are the choices.
probably coincidence given EVERY rumor or source that's claimed to identify the schools joining hasn't happened...but you only have to be right once

First person I've heard that actually claims to have reliable sources inside the organizations and makes sense on what is being worked out. I hope he's correct!!!Greg Swaim is claiming in the next month, or sooner, that it will be BYU and Cincinnati, 7 votes and 6 votes respectively so far (his words) and that Houston won't get the votes.
He of course covered himself by saying this is the Big12 and they never do anything fast or right so it could change... blah.. blah..blah..

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^. Man that is so true. UC got the Creme de La Creme when we got Dan Hoard. There aren't enough superlatives to describe the job he has done here. He's one of those rare guys whose talent could easily have landed him on a much larger stage but he decided to stay here. And we're all fortunate that he didLeave a comment:

They should hook him up with Dan Hoard as his chaperone. He's about as good a UC sports ambassador as we've had short of Ono. The fact that he also does pro games definitely adds to his cred.Leave a comment:

That could also be a reporter doing due diligence to write a story with something, anything, fresh. I'm not completely to the point of Yaw...wake me when there is an announcement, but I don't think Chuck Carlton has any inside information that would drive him to Cincinnati to do interviews. Though, here's hoping Chuck is Cincinnati for the announcement...as the announcement is made in Dallas.Leave a comment:

YAWN........the Big 12 soap opera continues. Is there anyone really paying any attention to this (except for a handful of schools that feel they have a legitimate shot to get in) ? Kind of doubt it. Then again maybe that's the way the Big 12 wants it.Did I read somewhere that the courtesy interviews were to be completed by Tuesday? That was when there were only 17-18 "candidates", not sure if that was extended now that there are 20. I don't think there will be a decision soon, but I sure hope the smoke of rumors start building a big fire for the Bearcat's chances of getting an invite.
Wake me up if and when they decide to make an announcement...........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzLeave a comment:
