• UConn Predictions

Well, I have no idea what the line will be because Vegas hasn't bothered yet. I do not expect a lot of offense from UConn, however if we blow coverages at the rate we did against BYU, it may not matter entirely. In a brief look at the stats one thing jumps out. Ti'on Green leads both teams in rush yds and UConn's QB leads them in rush attempts with 96 with a 2.6 avg compared to the lead RB at 71 and 5.1. That's either a lot of designed runs or a lot of sacks mixed in. They have only have 7 TDs through the air. I saw them briefly against BYU two weeks ago and they really couldn't move the ball much in what I saw from Provo.

I will be there, but not with the excitement I thought I'd have six weeks ago.

UC is mad, and this is a game where it all comes together. Easy win:

UC: 42
UConn: 21

I like us to win the remaining 3 home games (UConn, UCF, & Tulsa) in fairly easy fashion. The remaining road games (Houston, USF & ECU) are a different story.
Every team struggles at least a little on the road, but we are a completely different team on the road, especially our defense. The only thing I can come up with is our youth on defense seems to really get exposed on the road (we have a lot of guys playing their 1st year of D1 ball on defense). If the D doesn't grow up quick, those remaining road games could be painful.

An angry, dominant win would help me get excited for this football team again.

KOCH: Bearcats, Huskies Both Have Something to Prove

Back in early August when the American Athletic Conference football coaches gathered in scenic Newport, Rhode Island, for the league’s annual Media Day no one expected the University of Cincinnati Bearcats to be in search of their first conference victory in late October or to have a 3-3 overall record.

The Bearcats were the featured attraction at that event, not only favorites to win the East Division in the league’s new setup, but to win the conference’s first championship game behind the arm of junior quarterback Gunner Kiel.

Just FYI from the presser today. No starting QB has been chosen yet. We'll know Wed night/Thursday morning and both QBs are taking even number of reps.

If the Cats want to go bowling (sad to say this is even an issue), they must start to assert themselves, particularly against lightweights such as UConn. The Huskies are 3-4, and haven't beaten a quality team yet. Their wins are over Villanova (decent, but FCS), an awful Army squad and dreadful UCF. Their best loss was that 9-6 snoozer at Mizzou.

UC's offense will be too much and UConn's version won't pose much of a problem, even for a D under duress for most of the early season.

Sounds like it is going to be a wet day saturday so we will likely have to run the ball.

This is going to be just like last year.. from this point on the Bearcats are going to win the rest of their games and go 9-3 with a chance for 10 wins in whatever bowl game they end up in... and Yes... I am saying now that UC will beat Houston..

Houston and UC are very evenly matched. We should be 5-1, and in the top 35. So they beat Louisville, who really isn't that good this year.

courant: After Mistake-Filled Game Vs. USF, UConn Tries To Get On Track At Cincy
UConn plays at Cincinnati (3-3, 0-2 American East) Saturday (4:30 p.m., CBS Sports Network). UConn, a 13-point underdog, is 0-6 at Nippert Stadium and 2-9 overall against the Bearcats.

The Huskies have been a formidable defense, playing the bend-but-don't-break style, but they broke against South Florida in outside containment and balls being completed over the secondary.

uconn: Diaco meets the press ahead of road game against Cincinnati
Normally, the defensive unit is one of the Huskies strengths. Even before Diaco, the Huskies relied on stout defense to keep the team in games. For most of this season, the UConn defense has continued that legacy, ranking among the best in the conference.
However, the defense turned in one of its worst performances of the season, allowing 461 yards in the 28-20 loss to USF. Despite the struggles last game, not all hope is lost for the defense. They still remain one of the best units in the conference, ranking second in total defense and first in pass defense. The defense also ranks 29th in the country in scoring defense, allowing 20 points per game.
