KOCH: UC Needs Defense to Take Next Step
Tommy Tuberville made the decision several weeks ago to begin to provide some of his freshmen more playing time in an attempt to improve the speed and athleticism on the defensive unit. But he did not envision having five freshmen in the starting lineup, as he did last week in UC’s loss at BYU.
The Bearcats might already be paying the price of having so much inexperience on defense. They rank ninth in the American Athletic Conference in scoring defense, allowing 31.8 points per game, and seventh in total defense, allowing 406 yards per game.

But Tuberville still believes this defense ultimately be better than last year’s.

5 Freshmah...egads... I heard Dan Hoard say it last week but when you see it on e.paper it is schocking. I think UC wins today but potentially a very close game depending on how hard it is raining. TO will obviously be huge, special teams...punting! UC needs to continue to dominate UCONN in football so as not to lose ground on a P5 discussion. I'm pleasantly suprised by our conference this year, 4 or 5 schools with good showings so far.

When I heard that our men were wearing red, I thought that we would lose by 14. I am glad that I was wrong.
