Georgia St. starting QB has been ruled out of competition by the team docs after a heart issue was found during testing after his recovery from COVID-19. It's unclear whether the heart issue was caused by COVID or whether it was preexisting issue and was discovered by the additional tests that were run on him.

UConn has paused football related activities for a cluster of positive tests from players. Apparently they were still practicing or doing strength and conditioning work.

There’s a joke to be made here somewhere.

I just took an college on-line class and it was a joke compared to going to old fashioned brick and mortar classes. Open book tests were nice though.

Add NC State to the Off-campus party COVID cluster issue.

The amount of lawsuits hurled at universities for forcing full tuition payments on online classes is going to be large. There's already one filed down here by a grad student at SMU leftover from the spring semester. Pretty sure UNC's already been sued as well.

On separate note: Gov Dewine gavr okay so that high school sports can happen in Ohio.
I haven’t posted about UNC because it wasn’t really specifically sports related but they’ve gone to online classes only starting tomorrow. They tried to bring students back last week and ended up with all kinds of Covid clusters in their dorms, etc. Pretty much a total fail on all sides between students and admin.

Does anyone know if UC has capability to use pcr and do in house saliva fast test that was developed at Yale. It's call SalivaDirect and looks to be fairly simple test as long as reagents are available. I'd love for the university to ise this test to test all students every 2-3 days and the nasal swab (aka brain tickle) only for people with cold/flu symptoms.

Tulsa announced Monday that it has paused football workouts indefinitely after eight players tested positive for the coronavirus.

Eight more players will be in quarantine for 14 days after having direct contact with those positive cases.

The Golden Hurricane are members of the American Athletic Conference, which is planning to play eight conference games this fall, with nonconference games at the discretion of the schools.

Tulsa is scheduled to open its season against Oklahoma State in Stillwater on Sept. 12

You’re right. I must have been thinking about Arkansas when I wrote that.

This causes a couple of things. It keeps Austin Peay's athletic dept. afloat and puts a big dent in ours because this is a buy game for us. We likely would not have to pay out the money on the contract if the OVC had canceled football in the fall.

Does anyone know if Nebraska is going to pay us (anything) for the canceled buy game in Lincoln?
