Baylor comes to town this weekend fresh off a 39-14 blowout loss to Texas Tech. This will be the very first meeting between BU and UC.
The Bears come in at 2-4 and 1-2 in conference thanks to a last second one point comeback win against UCF earlier in the year. They are led by QB Blake Shapen who slings it around pretty well when he's able to stay off his backside. This is a QB who you have to put pressure on. He's mostly immobile in the pocket and gets sacked a lot. Texas Tech got 6 sacks on the day this past weekend. Dave Aranda's squad does not run the ball well or often. They do use the TE a lot in the red zone.
UC's key to this game is defending the pass in the secondary when Shapen has time to throw. The ESPN predictor gives the Bearcats a 72% chance to win but I'd take that with a grain of salt considering we were a 63% chance to win against Iowa St and got run over.
The line is currently UC -2.5 although they have the over/under at 52 and I'm thinking nope on that one.
The big question is which QB will start for UC. We've discussed this on here and I don't know what you do. EJ probably gives us the best chance to win and this might be the only win left on the schedule but it seems like the the team is not behind Jones at all. The chemistry issues are starting to rub off on the defense a bit in my opinion. I hope the D can rein in the Baylor passing attack enough to give a us a shot if we can score at all. If EJ starts I would not expect him to continue in the game if there's nothing positive happenning in the passing game by halftime.
