Sometime, those low-end schools produce gems. Sometime, great kids from smaller high schools do not get a look by the blue bloods. They shine at smaller schools. Just look at Ivan Pace! If we did not want to take kids from lower schools, we would have never dipped into the MAC.

Appreciate your comments Bret, but Ivan Pace was Ohio Defensive Player of the Year his last year of HS. Still, let's hope that there are some "gems" in there, but I still would feel better if we were getting transfers like Jerome Ford from Alabama.

          • Are football and basketball transfer rules the same? Seems like there’s an awful lot of 3 school football players

The rules are the same. In both, any player with his degree can transfer more than once without sitting out.

How about Darrian Beavers from UConn? Or Dartanyan Tinsley from Kentucky Christian?

Or would you rather have Blue Smith from Ohio State? Or Devin Hightower from Michigan State?

Or that running back from LSU Corey Kiner or Mike Young from ND-- Jowon Briggs from Virgina ----James Hudson from Michigan
WE must not be selective to fit our presuppositions. I like any transfer who can play, but many that went to big name schools are quality D1 players.

                  • I was VERY impressed with Miami's backup QB, who just entered the portal. He can run, and is a decent passer. Has two years left of eligibility. We should grab him: https://www.cincinnati.com/story/spo...l/71808687007/

                    • Cam Martinez "Ive got Cincinnati Thursday and Friday and then I’m finalizing dates with Boston College, West Virginia, Florida and Louisville next week. And a few others too honestly," Martinez said.247

Per the Athletic Cam Martinez, safety: Martinez was a reserve safety in 2023. He played just 28 snaps over four games and had trouble giving up big plays throughout his career.-

                      he missed tackles as well.

A good secondary coach could clean up bad habits and improve his play. Wait a minute. We would need one of those too.......
