I saw that on the ticker during UC’s basketball game Wednesday night, I agree it’s surprising.

If it's anything like the rest of the contracts Jimmy Sexton negotiated recently, the buyout is enormous.

At some point, the NCAA will change their payouts to match the NFL. Star players in the NFL make 3-5 times what the top coaches get, and there are several lower paid coaches. Imagine UC renogitating Satterfield's contract by $2,000,000 and diverting that money to the players via NIL. Then imagine a young hungry coach willing to take a few hundred thousand for the HC job, knowing he can buy top recruits with the rest (if the university commits) and then parlay a winning season into a job at a win hungry big-money school. Even a coach like Deion can win with the top paid recruits. The youth movement is already all-the-rage in NFL and NCAA head coaching hires.
