  • Northwestern State 9/13 3:30 ESPN+

This game certainly will feature a ton of new faces. The Demons are—as their ugly affair in Minnesota will attest—atrocious. There are three aims for the Cats: Run up the score early and get the regulars out before they get hurt; see if the backups and backups-to-backups can finish NW State off; enjoy the extra week to prepare for the Jayhawks.

Cats by whatever we score. My hope is we pitch a shutout.
Red and Black are more of an Attitude than merely a color combination.

    Intimidate! Dominate! Celebrate!

We won't need him in this one I don't think. Get his ankle healthy for Kansas

Just reading some articles on that Northewstern State game at MInnesota and Minn. had a pick six on the first play from scrimmage and scored 5 first quarter touchdown. Minnesota is not typically a good team. This could get really ugly. I expect backups by the 2nd half if we jump out to a lead like that.

The Gophers also fell on a fumble in the end zone for a second defensive score in that lopsided first quarter. The Demons are—just plain awful. Their QB has amassed 95 total yards passing over their two games. They've averaged 100.5 rushing yards, which is distorted by a 51-yard run versus Alcorn State.

In NSU's last 6 games versus FBS opponents, dating back to 2017, the scores were:

            2017: TX Tech 45-24
            2018: TX A&M 59-7
            2021: N TX 44-10
            2023: Lousiana 58-13
2024: Tulsa 62-28 (and the Golden Hurricane were a bad football team). Plus, last November, NSU coughed up 62 to Houston Christian, a quality FCS program.
            2025: MN 66-0

I'm not a betting man, but anyone who'd touch the current 45.5-point spread—on either side—should seek help.

Game plan: Crush them early and get the backups and the backups' backups in ASAP.

Should we be playing these guys? This is no contest.

Probably not. Is it too early to put in Brady Lichtenberg? Nice article about him here
Of the top-100 quarterbacks out of the 2021 class, five of them have spent five years with the same program, four of those have had their time as established starters, then, there is Brady Lichtenberg.

It was obvious from the first play. I don’t see what we get here, outside of a cheap buy game.

Yeah. This puts us in a bad spot honestly. We're going to be overconfident going into Lawrence next week.

I don't like the FCS team thing anyway but at least schedule a decent one.

I do not think I've ever seen a football team this bad, playing at this level of football in my 50+ years on this planet. How did they even win a game? I mean at least the Cats did what they were supposed to do and/or should have done, will give them that!

5 TDS in the 1st Q, no defense needed.
