Sources tell us that Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick is very interested in talking with Wisconsin Head Coach, Bret Bielema, after the Badgers trip from
Hawaii. They are expected to talk Sunday or Monday, according to our sources.

I actually ALSO got an email today (12/3/09) from a well trusted ND alum that stated this very thing about Stoops. Basically, and I paraphrase this email...but the jist was Stoops was in Toledo recently for his grandmothers funeral and flew back to Dallas to meet with ND reps. One thing that was hanging the deal up is that he wants his brother part of the package (Mark, the AZ def coordinator) Swarbrick is waiting till all the conf championships wrap up so the ND can command full attention on Monday.
This basically sounds like what your source said!?! Let's all hope this is correct info!

At this point, you have to believe that FootballCoachScoop is just throwing ANYTHING related to Notre Dame (reliable, unreliable, vetted, or unvetted) onto their website to try and generate more page hits.

Because, if you follow the timeline, it's too wildly inconsistent to be taken at face value.

i read somewhere today that Mark is leaving Arizona to be a DC somewhere else, but not ND.

it actually looks like Mark is going to Youngstown St to be the HC, so that may tear down the rumors that Bob going to ND is contingent on Mark being the DC.

That doesn't tear down anything. Mark is setting his plans as if there is no offer, but I would be shocked if he didn't go with his brother should the opportunity present itself.

That family is just synonymous with Youngstown. There seems to have been a Stoops on the coaching staff at Cardinal Mooney since the schools inception. Y-town seems to be the family "home-base", so Mark to YSU does make a lot of sense. However a good Catholic family from a very Catholic town, would probably hold Notre Dame in high regard.

Update:Jay-Z is rumored to be the next football coach at Notre Dame.
He has to talk it over with Beyonce,but i have an inside source that says it's all but a done deal by sunday.

Im surprised the North Carolina coach isn't getting much attention. I think he would be a good fit.

The reason I believe BK is NDs man is because a) there is nothing coming out of notre dame which leads me to believe their target is still playing b) BK will not say he isnt going c)We cant pay enough d)its is/was his dream job e)I dont see a much better choice for ND.

At the same time I am not overly concerned anymore, I think I am over it before it has even happend. Im looking forward to possibly catching a glimpse of Cent Mich tonight. Also, if he is gone I am looking forward to seeing how attractive the UC job is and how serious the University is about bog time football.

a) BK is still playing b) BK has said he is staying at UC c) BK is well paid d) how do you know it is his dream job, he has never, ever, stated that e) there are better choices for ND, a great defensive coach, ND saw the Orange Bowl last season, a good VT defense held the Bearcat offense to 7 points, defense wins championships, ND lost a lot of games this year in which the scored 20 or more points, what was Stanford 42 to 35 or something like that. ND knows UC gave up 45 points to UConn, Charlie Weiss defense only gave up 30 points to UConn. ND just fired a guy who lost to Pitt, if UC loses to Pitt tomorrow why would they hire another guy who lost to Pitt? Maybe they will go after Dave Wandstatt if Pitt wins tomorrow.

My ND friend told me of a recruiting commit (I think a D tackle or end) that happened a day or two after Weiss was fired.

Anyone have any insight on how this went down if it did?

Apparently was a Miami commit originally (verbal possibly) and then commits to ND after the firing? Was recruited mainly by Florida schools?

Anyone? Why would a kid make this move in the light of the uncertainty?

lol... the a b c thing right back at me. I heard the dream job thing last year and altrell hawkins was talking about when he said it on 1530 today. 1.5 is much less than 4 mil. And during all the pressers and everything else he has dodged it. WEBN dawn patrol.. ok like that whole thing was them laughing and just having a good time.

I have heard the offer was made but the contract is not yet signed.
