Max Olson of The Athletic ($) -- When the Big 12 becomes a 14-team league next year, what should the divisions look like? Do they even need divisions? Update on those discussions and the key issues (like where to put OU/Texas): https://theathletic.com/3222097/2022...y-issues-loom/

This is interesting but it is a pay site. If someone can summarize the rest of it, I would appreciate it. Big 12 fan survey: Coach approval ratings, future realignment hopes and good riddance to Texas and Oklahoma – The Athletic
Basically, they state that football will become the big 2 which includes just the B1G and the SEC. Will the Power 5 soon become the Power 2? Unpacking new TV revenue projections for a 12-team CFP world – The AthleticLast edited by bearcatbret; 03-31-2022, 05:28 PM.

The Big 12 revenue trends to be slow for the next 7 years where currently the Big 12 is third in revenue and at the end of this decade will be 5th. The SEC is projected to double in revenue. Navigate projects SEC and Big Ten per-school payouts will be $40-50 million clear of rest of Power Five by 2026 (msn.com)

Hopefully there is some movement to learn how much it will take for UC, UC, and UH to pay the AAC in negotiated exit fees this spring. Per Aresco, there are many moving parts and conferences that will be affected and they need to know sooner rather than later to accomodate schedules. My two cents: The three schools are using the UConn negotiated price as a starting point because we are giving much more notice, and I think Aresco is looking at the date of negotiated fees as a point in time to begin the clock until 2023, and as such has a higher number in mind. As the two sides play chicken, multiple conferences are left in limbo, along with fans.

By the way notice that the schools comprising the "new" Big 12 would have had 5 teams in the top 20. How many would the ACC or PAC12 have?
