M 5: UC 4, TTU 1. Nathan Taylor dealing. He had a very busy 3rd inning but worked out of it with just the single run scored.

hopefully, byu is THE upset of the day!

With the B12 tourney underway (BYU & ASU are in the top of the 2nd inning), the Bearcats are #34 in the RPI (#4 among B12 teams). There are no B12 teams in the Top 20 (KU #23, WV #28, KSU #32).

UC's matchup against TTU is scheduled to begin at 1:30 ET (ESPNU & ESPN+). With the length of NCAA games, that first pitch time seems dubious.

In the first week of April, the Cats took 2 of 3 games in Lubbock, scoring exactly 8 runs each time. The Red Raiders, who played a very strong OOC schedule (#6), are ranked #80 and are in need of a B12 championship to reach the NCAA tourney. They will be desperate.

The B12 bracket has been set. Okie State won back-to-back upsets over ASU and surprisingly inched ahead of UC for the #7 seed. The #8 Bearcats will play #9 TX Tech on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 ET on ESPNU. The winner will advance to meet #1 WV on Thursday at the same time (ESPN+).

The regular season came to a close on the wrong side of the score. KSU ran out quickly to a 6-0 lead, then extended it to 9-2 in the 3rd. UC cut it to 9-5, but it ended there.

It's likely that UC has secured a spot in the NCAAs at this point. Cross is on the list for a possible BIG 12 POY award

The Bearcats made no doubt as to which team would prevail this evening. They climbed up early, 7-0, then rode strong pitching to finish it off at that score. The win propelled the Cats into a 16-13 tie with K-State, good enough for sixth. That could change, if UH would knock off AZ tonight, which would create a three-way tie for fifth.

The regular season ends tomorrow afternoon.

UC wrapped up at worst 7th place in the B12 after rallying to take down K-State tonight. The Wildcats took an early 3-0 lead, but the Bearcats erupted for 4 in the third. KSU tied it, but UC took control of the game with single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings. Final: 7-4.

UC are 30-22 (15-13), with two more games left with the Wildcats on Friday and Saturday, given that the predicted widespread severe storms fail to develop.

UC salvaged the finale of the series in Ft. Worth, eking out a 9-8 victory over the Horned Frogs. The Bearcats have four remaining games in the regular season, all at home. The Hoosiers come in for a 6:00 first pitch on Tuesday. Then, K-State will arrive to round out the B12 slate.

The Cats are now 29-22. The Wildcats are 31-20 after taking two of three from the Mountaineers this weekend.
