”Luke Fickell another reminder that we never know how coaching hires are going to turn out. That was the most obvious of good hires by Wisconsin, yet here we are.”

Looking at his schedule... they definitely aren't going to a bowl game this year. Entirely possible they don't win another game... I'm guessing they do but 3-4 wins at Wisconsin ain't gonna do it.... He will be fired within a year or 2. Wonder if he regrets leaving Cincy or if he knew he would struggle here too after all of the NFL talent we had during his tenure had left. Or maybe he was cashing in on his bag while he could get the most, hard to say... I'll always appreciate him staying for our playoff run though... most of our past coaches would have bailed ahead of that

I believe he saw a major loss of talent and without his coordinators to do the proper rebuilding - Mike Denbrock and Marcus Freeman. Were these two the secret to the successful teams.
ironic. the article questions CLF's time / game management. i remember his last game here, vs. tulane, and thought the same thing. two days later, after looking like he was coaching not to win that tulane game, he's announced as wisky's new coach.
Fickell was a topic of discussion over dinner on Saturday evening with a group of UC fans. The consensus was he made a grave error leaving for Wisconsin. Had he remained at UC, he could have cemented his legacy at UC and been a fixture associated with the program. UW was always going to be no better than 3-4 in the B1G. I think his assistant coaches knew that and bailed at the first opportunity to leave. Now he struggles to recreate the success he once had at UC and will eventually pay for it. That was the summary of our conversation.

I thought that exact same thing. Even expanded beyond the Tulane game.
