To think Sorsby did not gamble while at UC is naive. I just hope he didn't bet on the outcome of any of UC's games. And I agree he should be fired as a professional collegiate football player, I would say expelled from school but since NIL pays them millions of dollars they don't go to class anymore. I have no animosity for the young man and I hope he gets the help he needs but he also needs to made an example of. It's way past time the NCAA grows a pair and shut this whole thing down as it presently exists.

Some of his decisions and throws last years were also very questionabl?

I agree with fmirzamd..With the gambling schemes that have have recently come to light anything is possible. Some of you are probably tsk-tsking right now but gambling brings out the worst in people.UC needs to go after that million hard before he claims bankruptcy.

There will be an investigation, and if anybody at UC knew about this there may be sanctions. CSS or even John Cunningham could lose their jobs over this.

While online/phone gambling is probably pretty commonplace among football players I find it hard to believe that anyone on the University level would overlook and accept it.UC has spent massive amounts of money and time to educate these knuckleheads. More than likely we will be in the clear. I've got no sympathy for Sorsby. What an idiot!

Yeah, suddenly he’s seeking rehab, after he was busted.

I seriously doubt that anyone within the he athletic dept knew anything about this or turned a blind eye to it, at least I hope not. That may be why UC decided to go after BS for breach of conduct in the first place, because they discovered this after bolting. If he was gambling while at the previous schools and knowing it to be illegal, he's not going to just let that become public knowledge.

Gambling is an addiction and needs to be treated as such. Cincinnati has already seen one sports figure undone by this disease and I hope Sorsby can get the help he needs and turn his life around before it is too late.

The Cincy Enquirer claims UC knew of the problem. Shame on them. It does make you wonder about the Nebraska pass. There has to be discipline for Cunningham and CSS too. How can you play a known gambler. I wonder if BS is expelled can he go to the NFL. I know Canada is ok. It seems other than a bad rep, he could be rewarded. Would the NFL want a known gambler? Can he ever ve trusted even after this self-help rehab. He needs a bigger change in his life.

The first thing I thought of was the Arizona game last year that I was at. His first throw was literally right to the Arizona cornerback without a UC player anywhere around. I even told my girlfriend that it was like he did it on purpose. Of course at that time I had no idea about this gambling situation but who knows?

This is coming from USA Today
                        https://www.cincinnati.com/story/spo...n/89832620007/

The Cincinnati athletic department was alerted in August that star quarterback Brendan Sorsby was gambling prior to the start of the 2025 season, two people with direct knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports on Monday.

By knowing Sorsby was gambling and playing him anyway, Cincinnati could face NCAA scrutiny. Sorsby is under NCAA investigation after reportedly making "thousands" of online bets during his career, according to ESPN.

The penalty for wagers exceeding $200 is eligibility loss, with higher wagers receiving more severe punishment. Sorsby appeared in 12 games for Cincinnati during the 2025 season.

When contacted by USA TODAY Sports on Monday, senior associate athletic director Zach Stipe released a statement saying, “Cincinnati Athletics has no comment at this time.”

quite a few times last season, it looked like Sorsby was ranting on the sidelines - I just thought that he was fed up with CSS's playcalling, and just the whole CSS vibe. But, you do wonder. Did Sorsby miss some throws on purpose, or just because he's got a little bit of a wild streak? Was he ranting, because he and the school had had "discussions" about him gambling, or just because they folded down the stretch?

Could get ugly up in Clifton.

Maybe silver lining here... If CSS knew he could be fired for cause and get us a better coach... horrible timing for that and I do think he deserves one more year but on the other hand I never thought he was the right hire and wouldn't be sad to see him go.

First of all I feel bad for anyone who has an addiction. However, in the last two games he threw to the sidelines & many of them were uncatachable. So who knows if he effected the games outcome.
                              I hope not!

what did all the people do before there were these addiction theories and insurance paying for the programs. Some ⚖ matured and use willl power, strength of character and overcoming their desires to solve their problems. The addiction culture has gone out of control. I say this even with my wife a mental health profess. The tragic thing is that they no longer see a reason to have the desire to stop.. Ultimately one must realize prayer is our only true and permanent help. People have been babied and not held accountable so they have little, if any restraint . The tragic thing is that they see no reason to have any. If it feels good , do it. They see no consequences as it isn't them, it is their disease. We have been sold that for the last 60 or so years.

PS sorry for the typos - my eyes are not working well today.
