Seems the storm passed without a single drop of rain. Sorsby entering supplemental NFL draft.

Edit. Will any teams take the risk? How can they ever trust the guy? Maybe there’s a team that would risk a 7th rounder.

We've discussed the NIL and it's ramifications / consequences on this forum ad nauseum, but the TT attitude with this whole Sorsby scenario just epitomizes the state of college athletics today.. They, ( TT ) can't stand that they spent all that money on what most prognosticators predict will be TT's most promising team in a long while only to have it just disregarded. I have no idea why they decided to pin their championship hopes on BS as he did nothing impressive while he was here. Of course hindsight is always 20 20 but it could be ascertained that he was betting on game outcomes while here which would explain a lot, although that has not been determined to be the case. And the fact that every one of the ruling judges ( donors) are TT graduates just reeks of prejudice. Can anyone say biased. If the NIL and transfer portal has opened the door to unprecedented wild, wild west rush for championships,. Some of the comments coming from the TT side, from their coach to University academia just reeks of greed and liberalism. If Sorsby is allowed to play then we can all point to this event as the point where the oddsmakers and Vegas took complete control over all college sports. We will forever wonder who truly the better teams are in every game played.

From Tom Mars:
"Texas Tech reading the Big 12’s lawsuit filed by Sidley Austin - one of the biggest and best law firms in the world - would be like looking out from your bunker and suddenly seeing an armada of 1,213 warships headed toward your coast."

The Utah AG just chimed in to second the Oklahoma AG's opinion in support of the B12's positions:
Ross Dellenger on X: "A third state AG, this one Utah, has sent a letter to the Big 12 backing the league’s potential sanctions of Texas Tech and criticizing the Texas AG’s legal threats to the conference. “The harm from Texas Tech’s proposed course of action is not merely legal—it is structural.” https://t.co/N7BwogHWRx" / X
Now, the Kansas AG jumped in to offer assistance.Last edited by swilsonsp4; 06-15-2026, 04:14 PM.

The NCAA filed an emergency appeal as well. I say this as a UC football fan since the 1960’s. If Sorsby was still here, I’d insist on booting him off the team, and if UC played him I’d never go to another game. I’m sorry he was ever here. Anyway ..

The conference is taking it to the federal court.

Congress and the "Protect American Sports" Act, if passed would rule Sorsby ineligible. It basically states that the NCAA has the authority to enforce its own rules.

The B12 filed suit this morning against TTU, its leadership & Ken Paxton. The conference seeks a declaratory judgment that the B12 is permitted to sanction TTU under its by-laws and First Amendment rights. The presidents will still meet sometime today.

I don't gamble, but if I was running any of the on-line gambling sites, I'd never put TTU's games up for wagers.Originally posted by longtimefan View PostIt’s far easier for a QB to lose against the spread than win, assuming that a fix is in. I don’t know about anybody else, but if betting I wouldn’t touch Texas Tech at all, ever.

Re UC's suit: Still pending but not going anywhere unless/until the overall Sorsby situation reaches its conclusion. Re voiding victories, Cody Campbell has more disposable cash that he would employ to defeat such an "outrage" (as I imagine he'd respond). Then, TTU can have the same company that designed and employed UCF's 2017 National Championship signage do likewise in Lubbock.Originally posted by bearcatbret View Post
That is interesting.
I have a question for the group. Did UC ever win their $1M lawsuit against Sorsby for break of contract?
Another thought that would be funny is if Sorsby plays all year and TT makes the CFP. Then the NCAA case gets moved up prior to the CFP and it is ruled that TT has to forfeit all of their wins and gets ejected from the CFP.

Statement on behalf of Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark:
“Shortly before the start of today's Big 12 Executive Board meeting, the Conference received a letter from the Texas Attorney General’s office notifying the Conference of potential legal action from Texas Tech if the Conference pursues certain actions under its Bylaws. We are taking time with our legal counsel to understand the concerns of the state and will meet again with the full Board next week.
We moved forward with our Executive Board today in preparation for our full Board meeting on Monday. We had a good and informative discussion. Sentiment among the Executive Board was no different from what we heard from the ADs earlier this week.
Our discussion with the full Board will determine our course of action, and all options remain on the table.”
