  • From Tom Mars:

"Texas Tech reading the Big 12’s lawsuit filed by Sidley Austin - one of the biggest and best law firms in the world - would be like looking out from your bunker and suddenly seeing an armada of 1,213 warships headed toward your coast."

    • We've discussed the NIL and it's ramifications / consequences on this forum ad nauseum, but the TT attitude with this whole Sorsby scenario just epitomizes the state of college athletics today.. They, ( TT ) can't stand that they spent all that money on what most prognosticators predict will be TT's most promising team in a long while only to have it just disregarded. I have no idea why they decided to pin their championship hopes on BS as he did nothing impressive while he was here. Of course hindsight is always 20 20 but it could be ascertained that he was betting on game outcomes while here which would explain a lot, although that has not been determined to be the case. And the fact that every one of the ruling judges ( donors) are TT graduates just reeks of prejudice. Can anyone say biased. If the NIL and transfer portal has opened the door to unprecedented wild, wild west rush for championships,. Some of the comments coming from the TT side, from their coach to University academia just reeks of greed and liberalism. If Sorsby is allowed to play then we can all point to this event as the point where the oddsmakers and Vegas took complete control over all college sports. We will forever wonder who truly the better teams are in every game played.

      • Seems the storm passed without a single drop of rain. Sorsby entering supplemental NFL draft.

Edit. Will any teams take the risk? How can they ever trust the guy? Maybe there’s a team that would risk a 7th rounder.

a couple of questions, as to details. we may never know, but just curious. Will / has TTU (ie, Cody Campbell) "bought" out BS's nil deal? will BS reimburse UC, as he's apparently, contractually obligated to do? or, will UC back off, due to concerns about what may come out, as to what it knew about BS's gambling? how long will it take TTU to live down the stigma that it acquired, in this whole mess?

i'm sure that all parties just want this over, and, by next week, it may be completely out of the news. who knows?

          • With all the bad moves Cleveland has made with QB's, they may take Sorsby!

I thought the same thing. The kid would thread a needle then overthrow it 10 yards out of reach. He had several receivers and a TE drafted in the NFL and yet our offense stalled with his missed passes. I chalked it up to nerves as he had talent, but not mentally able to handle the pressure cooker passes. I hope we are not right in guessing this could be him taking money to fix games.

              • I am tired of the BS . I saw bad passes and two years ago I thought he was injured and couldn't throw. Who knew (well perhaps UC and IU). Nothing has been proven and nothing will be, butttttttttttttttttttttttt. The interception in the Nebraska game had me wondering. I wonder just how good UC could have been. What a shame. I can't stand to read about him.

Per Cody Campbell, Sorsby has already received $1M, which appears to be the extent of what he'll get.

As a longsuffering Browns fan, I'd be very surprised if they bid on Sorsby. New HC Todd Monken made negative comments about having to deal with the baggage. Also, GM Andrew Berry traded Myles Garrett for three high picks, including the Rams' 2027 #1, with the intent to use the draft capital on a 2027 QB. He knows they aren't going to compete in 2026. The Browns may be the youngest team in the NFL.

                    • Now that this saga is over, it's time to start making the "We're betting the house on you JC French" signs for game time!

That was obvious. But I put in my 2 cents worth because there are media talking heads tossing out Cleveland as the first team they mention for Sorsby, with some leading off with the Jets-Jets-Jets instead.

                          • I know its wishful thinking and knowing the greed that prevails throughout the world today, I think I would enjoy it if no NFL team opted to to draft him. I don't wish him any harm, but with some of the ridiculous things being said concerning Betman, such as keeping him from playing this year could harm his chances at furthering his career. Maybe he can have a good career in the CFL.

                            • A writer for The Athletic asked “Is there enough time before July’s supplemental draft for teams to fully understand his recovery and mindset?” Recovery from addiction is not a month long or year long process. You’re in recovery the rest of your life. Look at Pete Rose. After being told “to reconfigure his life” to be eligible for reinstatement, he moved to Las Vegas and hung out in casinos every day. Stanley Wilson was praised for beating drug addiction, but relapsed and disappeared the night before the biggest game of his life. In both cases they had everything to lose, and lost everything. Sorsby will need to be monitored 24x7, and that may not be enough. I’m not saying he can’t beat it, but with legal gambling everywhere just going to the stadium for him will be like a struggling alcoholic walking into a bar. The leagues, college and pro, allowed the gamblers unprecedented access. What a mess.

                              • Longtime,
I listen to a lot of radio. Specifically political radio. When Hunter Biden was big in the news, some outlets claimed that he recovered from his addiction. Other outlets stated that once you are an addict, you are always an addict. If you are not using, you are in recovery but you will always have the addiction. You just have to stay away from that addiction. if you just try it once, you are hooked again. If gambling addiction is the same as drug addiction, a gambling addict will always be an addict that is in recovery. You are correct, he will have to be watched day and night. He will have to just say no every time the urge hits him. At least he has admitted that he has a problem. I hope that he can find a program that will help him stay away from gambling. I also hope that he does not turn to other addictions. Often, if a person gets addicted to one vice, he has an addictive personality which could be transferred to other vices. That was my public service announcement for the decade.
