NEWS: North Dakota State transfer Trevian Carson has committed to Cincinnati, Nigel Carter and Gabe Hekmat of @WEAVE tell DraftExpress. The 6'3 junior was named First Team All-Summit League and All-Defensive Team, averaging 11.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game.
Strengths: "The ultimate do-it-all guy. He was the most complete player in our league. Guards, shoots it, rebounds really well. He made BIG shots. A winner."
Weaknesses: "His size will limit him moving up. He does everything well, but he doesn't do anything at an elite level."

Huge get! I like him better than Brumbaugh or Riley. We've already got Tejada so we don't necessarily need another high usage scorer with a tendency to force bad shots. We have several wings who get to the rim. Carson is a balanced player who can set the table, create his own shot late if needed, pressure the ball, and chip in on the boards. A perfect complement to the guys we already have.
4.3 BPM is top 25 among all players 6'3" and under who entered the portal and the second best rebounder in that group.
My previous assessment:
Originally posted by sedz View PostCarson posted a 4.3 BPM with a solid all around game. Average usage efficient scorer (55% eFG), good rebounding for a guard (7% OReb), takes care of the ball, 2.0 DBPM with a high steal rate (3%). Another guy who averaged more steals than turnovers. Only top 50 game was in the NCAA tourney against Michigan St where he recorded a 5.1 BPM with 11 pts, 7 reb, 6 assists, only 1 turnover. I like this guy. Calhoun is looking at versatile backcourt players.Last edited by sedz; 04-20-2026, 02:33 PM.

The best match I've found for Carson's statistical profile is 2013 senior Jaquon Parker. 2011 freshman Sean Kilpatrick too, just lower usage. Seems to have some Troy Caupain in his game. Nothing fancy but under control with quick decision making.Last edited by sedz; 04-20-2026, 03:09 PM.

That's three legends right there.... If he is 1/2 as good as those guys we have a real winner.Originally posted by sedz View PostThe best match I've found for Carson's statistical profile is 2013 senior Jaquon Parker. 2011 freshman Sean Kilpatrick too, just lower usage. Agreed. The more I watch the more he reminds me of Jaquon. Not an above the rim guy but rebounds very well with positioning. Good handles. Won't take it all the way to the rim but can split perimeter doubles. Will sneak to the block without the ball for quick release layups. Not a high volume iso shooter but makes 38% from deep.Originally posted by Longtime Lurker View Post

I feel this was great pickup for Calhoun and the Cats. I think he fits his style of play, better than Tillery. Carson is also more seasoned than Tillery, probably better all around player than him. Obviously he will need to pick up a few more guards, but I love the direction that he’s going, with building this roster.Originally posted by GoBearcats31 View Post@DraftExpress

“Elijah has incredible feel for a point guard,” Calhoun said. “He’s a young man who has great promise and, obviously, there’s significant familiarity for him with our system and for our staff with his game. Elijah can really grow here. He sees the floor well and players love playing with him. Elijah can get downhill, play out of pick and rolls and is a wonderful kid.”Last edited by GoBearcats31; 04-20-2026, 05:33 PM.
