That Burns guy from NC State should be playing defensive end somewhere. Impressive moves from a man that size.

Samford got robbed by the refs on what was a clean block with 15 seconds left. There was zero contact. I hate seeing small conference teams go down like that.

Me too. And I always get the feeling it would have not been called the other way.

Another down year for the Pac-12, another good start (Oregon, Arizona, Washington State got wins yesterday + Colorado in the First Four on Wednesday)

            Big 12:
            - BYU out
            - Iowa State cruised
            - Kansas held off Samford
            - Texas Tech fell to NC State
            - Texas pretty easily took down Colorado State

lik another of our friends, who's now back at norwood university, calipari was real successful when he "bent" rules, and had his
own version of nil. now that nil is legal, and everyone's doing it, he's lost his edge. everybody's buying players now.

A great thread showcasing offensive sets from yesterday's games: https://twitter.com/EricFawcett_/sta...55696739930335

It's crazy how much the horns set has taken over college basketball, less than 20 years after Mike D'Antoni used it to usher in the modern game focused on catch-and-shoot threes. So many actions in that thread involve bigs setting high post off ball screens.

This is something that gets lost in the generational debates, like the current Michael Jordan discourse. Offensive strategies and tactics get more efficient over time. Jordan and his predecessors never played in an offense like today's. There was a lot more back to the basket post play back then, even from the guards, and their skill sets reflect that. They had to create space in the midrange.

It's a beautiful thing! It seems grabbing every available blue chip freshman and rolling the ball out there may not work anymore. I love seeing a young man have his moment on sport's biggest stage. Pure joy.

Kentucky got outrebounded by Oakland. Can't always stop the threes from going in, but there's no way they should be getting beat on the glass. Calipari should own that, but he blamed his players.

Look at this beautiful elevator screen: https://twitter.com/EricFawcett_/sta...56963151261786

That play followed by the phantom foul chasedown block are two of the best plays of the tournament so far. Samford deserved to win.

This is probably my favorite set of the bunch: https://twitter.com/EricFawcett_/sta...56412330086505

So many possibilities when everyone is set up across the high post and elbows. NC St had several options for wide open shots on that play.

Here is this from the "Georgetown Insider": The Georgetown Insider

                              5h ยท
LEXINGTON - The University of Kentucky announced this morning that they are offering men's basketball coach John Calipari a contract extension that defies the boundaries of both time and space.
Calipari, already under a lifetime contract with UK, is set to sign a "double lifetime" contract extension that ensures his presence on the court even beyond the grave. The new contract not only guarantees Calipari a staggering pay raise but also grants him the unprecedented ability to coach from the afterlife.
"We believe in Coach Calipari's vision for the program, both in this life and the next," stated UK's athletic director Mitch Barnhart in a press release.
The timing of this announcement is being called into question following last night's heartbreaking first round loss to Oakland in the NCAA tournament. University officials maintain that the decision was made independently of last night's crushing defeat.
However, some critics couldn't help but wonder if the contract extension was a desperate attempt to distract fans from the team's disappointing performance. "Maybe they're hoping Coach Cal can work some magic from the beyond to salvage their program," noted longtime fan Anthony Beeler of Georgetown.
According to details of the contract, Calipari will receive an annual salary of $17 million until the year 2424, as well as a $20 million signing bonus. In addition, beginning next year, all children born in central Kentucky will have to be named after him.
"I'm committed to this program," said Calipari, when asked about his new contract. "Go Wildcats!"
                              This is a developing story.
