  • Jeff Ruby posted a pic with the team from tonight and seems like most everyone is there but doesn’t look like JJ among them

Tillery is a true point and even though he's a freshman, he might be the true distributor we've been lacking for a while. I like Jizzle just fine but if the team is better with Tillery at the point, and Jizzle off the ball, play him.

Honestly if Tillery (or anyone) can throw good entries to Thiam on the block , we're in good shape.
My friend’s father is one of six high school coaches to have won over 600 games in his career. He always said the true value of a player is the ability to make your teammates better. IMO, JJ may be a great individual player, he does not make the team better. None of us know what is happening, but the longer this lingers, more harm is caused. I would cut ties now but that CWM’s call.

      • with JJ there is no team and never has been. He wanted to play the point and that was the deal between CWM and Dad. One can see his training was in taking shots and the spotlight. That was evident from his first game. CWM was in over his head with the agreements with the guy who went to Baylor booster as well as JJ's dad. Was there a new agreement with our transfer Big or does his coach gets the deal. What a mess. I had a convo with Mikey Saunders a few years back when he was wanting all the NIL stuff (when it was first starting). I told him to win championships and things would happen. I also told him that the greatest bb player of all time never got anything until he was in the pros for several years and then for a Basketball equipment company. That man played hard and won games. He also made every player on the court regardless of team better. I still love the Cats and will root for them on the court, but I am glad for a forum in which to vent.

i don't think any of us care what Oscar, or KMart, or Gary Clark, etc made in the pros, other than to be happy for them. I care about, and remember, what they did to WIN games. You win, the rest follows.

my point to a former Bearcat--- If the greatest was happy being a bearcat and winning plus making all better, than a frosh who had done nothing should wait6 and do it the right way -- That is win. We did see hiscareer after the Cats.Didn't CWM make some promises to come back when CWM went to the Saunders' home when CWM took over. Promises promises --- that is the tune today. The point to Mikey is that things really don't always come easy you have to work and even then (the case with Oscar) some things never comes. One might think of the name "Smoothie King" as to get free smoothies and to be their face, you need to be the king.on the court.

            • Seems the Jizzle discussion has veered into the selfish / must be unhappy with playing time realm. I could be wrong but it seemed to go beyond that and there is clearly some personal stuff going on "off the court" -- which isn't to say they are entirely separate or that he didn't seem to suggest he was unhappy here/potentially bailing. Just saying.

              Go Cats!

              • Appears that UC added a 21-year old from Spain https://vb.bearcatnews.com/forum/bas...spain-f-commit

There seems to be a new trend of these D1 schools adding random European kids. Indiana just added one in the past week and another earlier this offseason -- neither of which have made it to campus yet. Not sure what roles these Euro kids will have or if they are more redshirt candidates/development pieces.

The topic came up again on the end of last night's Bearcat Journal podcast. Chad and his co-host mostly discussed media ethics (and how it related to this story), but in the final minute or so, Chad responded to someone in the live chat asking if UC is providing help to Jizzle to which Chad said UC is doing everything they can but insinuated that Jizzle was being resistant.

I do wonder how the massive roster turnover affects guys nowadays. I know that many people have the attitude of "they are pro's now, they have to figure it out". But how many pro teams are turning over 90% of their roster in a year? College basketball at the current time likely has the highest average roster turnover per year of perhaps any sport in recent history, regardless of level of play.

Jizzle is in the unique position of not really needing the money he's being paid, sure it's nice for him, but unlike most guys who have never seen that much money in their life, Jizzle may be making chump change compared to what his dad has. It's possible that Jizzle wasn't gelling well with the new roster, missing the friends he had on last years team and that negatively impacted his mental health and happiness. Not needing the money makes it easier for him to just up and leave than it would be for most guys.

Though I do expect that playing time is likely at least part of the equation for him as well. Wes has always walked the knifes edge of recruiting more guys than minutes available and still keeping everyone happy. Seems like this may be the year the knife cuts him. But as long as he can keep everyone but Jizzle happy, we should still be okay.

                    • Back to the JJ situation. It seems that since the advent of the Nil and the transfer portal, the threat from a player to bail for just any reason becomes more and more real. And I'm not suggesting that that's the case here with JJ, but it's just a matter of time when coach 's and AD's begin to protect themselves in contracts and legal verbiage in order to curtail any knee jerk responses from immature people

Also, you have to view these situations totally different. In the past you'd say, hey, it's just a kid (benefitting from a free ride). Now you're dealing with highly compensated individuals.

and their agents and in some cases parents -- well parents have often been a problem, but !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                          • In my opinion it is these two situations that we are dealing with here.

                            • So, where does everyone think Rodriguez will fit in? From the video I saw on the Enquirer, he looks like a really good shooter, and a good player.
