That's not what I was driving at. Adams was still on the staff when Thiam entered the portal. Per Chad Brendel, CWM didn't want Adams to leave. Had he stayed, N'Diyae wouldn't have been coming here (and, likely, Thiam). This is in response to UCF followers' claims that UC tampered with Thiam before he entered the portal. While N'Diyae may have shopped his protege here (as he apparently did all over the place), there was no opening for the coach. UC did not initiate any contact.

sorry - wasn't disagreeing with you. what I meant was that these assistants constantly sell themselves, and who they may be able to bring, to get that "next big job". it seems like they may as well all wear sign boards, with the list of players that they can "land" for the next school. to some extent, it happens all the time in all lines of work, but, I guess with so much money floating around in "collegiate" sports, its more visible.

The 6'6 Rivera averaged 11.9 and 7.4 this season, a year after 13.3 and 8.1 for Bryant. Before that he had a redshirt season at SLU (never played) and his freshman campaign was at Odessa College, so he probably has at least a year having started at JUCO ball.

Rivera is from Puerto Rico but came to college via a NY high school.

He had 4 points in 13 mins versus UC two years ago for Bryant.

Rivera's scoring comes strictly near the basket. He's neither good from outside (16% over his last two seasons) nor the line (55%), although he does get there quite a bit. Rivera isn't going to stretch the opponent's defense. If he's on the floor, there would need to be multiple quality shooters with him.

He's a balanced player, 1.1 offensive BPM and 1.2 defensive BPM. 17% DReb, 5.6% block, and 2.3% steal, and 3.6 foul rates are all decent for a PF or big wing.

I think he would be a 10-15 mpg backup 4. Not a Big12 starting caliber player like Baba Miller.

I think we need another 4 or at least a good rebounding big wing. We have a lot of small backcourt players and true 5s right now. Big, versatile wings would give us matchup problems, and they are exceedingly common in the modern game.

I read that N'Diyae's family runs a basketball camp in Senegal that produces a lot of 7-footers. I think he has a good pipeline to bring more big men to UC.

There's nothing official yet, but it's believed that Baba Miller is likely to return to FAU.
