This is more like the MLB model. At least NFL teams share revenue, in MLB the richest teams buy championships. At least in MLB you have some control through two years and a chance for arbitration until year 6. The model currently in college athletics is not sustainable. And while nobody seems to care, how many guys actually earn degrees these days?Originally posted by zykarious View Post
Except in the NFL, draft picks stay around a few years, can develop and you get them cheap. In college they become free agents after 1 year, which takes away most of the benefit of "drafting". So it's more like the NFL if free agency was out of control.

Sincere is a high usage slasher. 2.9 BPM this year and 6.6 in 7 top 100 games. Last year he posted a ridiculous 7.8 BPM in 15 games at Saint Louis.Originally posted by GoBearcats31 View PostUC also contacted McNeese State guard Sincere Parker, who averaged 12.2 points this year (15.9 points at SLU the year before), per Sam Kayser of 247 HS Hoops.
I would love to have a Sencire and a Sincere on the same roster.
I'm always of the opinion that you take the best players available and then choose a scheme that fits the roster. 2 bigs, 5 wings, 4 guards, anything can work. Just get ballers.

Dontaie Allen, 6'6 G/F from Falmouth, KY, is apparently hitting the portal (and UC has tried recruiting him before):
- 2 seasons at Kentucky (41 combined games)
- 2 seasons at WKU (59 combined games)
- 1 season at Wyoming (32 games)
How are guys like this hitting the portal? Five seasons (including COVID year) and not once has he played fewer than 19 games, so there is no medical redshirt or anything.

No idea. I don't understand eligibility anymore.Originally posted by GoBearcats31 View PostDontaie Allen, 6'6 G/F from Falmouth, KY, is apparently hitting the portal (and UC has tried recruiting him before):

Apparently there are no rules anymore! No roster limit will be next to go. You can have as many players as you can afford and don't play them. You can pay to play or pay not to play keeping players that you don't want your rivals to obtain. It's the wild wild West out there right now.

So apparently Allen was ruled academically ineligible for some 2022 games at UK after he played in them. He had to sit out 7 games the following year at WKU while that was being sorted out. I haven't seen anything definitive, but my guess is he was granted an extra year due to the mixup.Originally posted by GoBearcats31 View PostDontaie Allen, 6'6 G/F from Falmouth, KY, is apparently hitting the portal (and UC has tried recruiting him before):

I gave up on that hope a long time ago. Right now, until proven otherwise, we are just riding out the storm until the school can afford to buy him out.Originally posted by zykarious View Post
Of the 16 players on last years team, at most 6 of them will return. 4 however seems the number to bet on (Chad doesn't think Hickman will get a waiver and thinks Mitchell will transfer) and 2 of those 4 didn't play or barely played (Dzellat and McKinley). We had less roster turnover when Brannen "blew up" the team in his final season. But we somehow have to believe Wes has a plan to get us to the NCAA tournament next year.

Yeah. My love of college basketball is ruined. I didn't even watch the tournament. What's the point?Originally posted by longtimefan View PostI’m so tired of all of it. In the future when we welcome back former Bearcats, who will we welcome? 40 years ago I attended every home game of a 3-25 team that didn’t win a D1 game. Now, I don’t know.

UC literally has an article about it https://gobearcats.com/news/2025/3/4...a-bearcat.aspxOriginally posted by London 'Cat View Post
I heard CWM say that in an interview with Hoard and Nelson.

I am not advocating for recruiting him, but on the topic in another thread about UC recruiting guys who they played against...
Mike Sharavjamts, a lanky 6'9 junior forward from Mongolia, is portaling:
22-23 at Dayton
23-24 at San Francisco (NIT opponent)
24-25 at Utah (15 points over the two games this year)
7.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists with underwhelming shooting percentages this season at Utah
