Yes. Both teams will have a better opportunity for these games to be Q1-level (Top 50 opponent on neutral floor).

A certain Mr Lakhin has circled this one on his calendar (he said so) which is interesting since he's out of eligibility.

Confirmed via MSM's 2025-26 schedule on their website. KenPom ranked them #243 in 2024-25 (23-13 record). They won the MAAC tourney and received a #16 seed in the NCAA Tourney. This will be a Q4 buy game, but the Mountaineers undoubtedly will be better than AR-Pine Bluff and Grambling State from last season.

                  Non-conference schedule announced
                  https://gobearcats.com/news/2025/09/...rence-schedule

UC plays both Dayton and Louisville before the Shootout -- also UC plays Tarleton State four days before the X game. Seems like for years UC has played absolutely nobody before the Shootout and are idle for a week before they face X, whereas X usually comes in with some early tests and a game a few days before.

Alabama State, Louisville, Lipscomb, Mount St. Mary's, Clemson, Georgia, and Xavier all made the NCAA Tournament, 2025. This is not a bad non-conference schedule. Pretty good balance. Only 3 true cupcakes (and maybe a 4th) on the schedule this year (NJIT, Tarleton State, and Alabama State. Western Carolina may also be in that cupcake category). Note that Alabama State is a NCAA Tournament team and went 20-15 last season. This non-conference schedule is going to challenge UC, especially the last 5 games. The stretch of games consisting of Dayton, Mount St. Mary's, and Louisville should also challenge UC.

Any bets on if UC can go undefeated during the non-conference? What games are must win for UC's NCAA hopes?

I am looking at purchasing tickets for the Louisville game at Hereitage Bank. Has anyone heard if specific sections in the arena are reserved for Louisville? I prefer not to sit amongst Louisville fans.

No Q3 trap games. I like that.

The Bearcats will play two exhibition games before the regular season opener—both on the road versus highly-ranked P2 teams (MI & AR). Both games will occur during those opponents' Homecoming weekends. CWM said he wanted to put the team into as hostile environments as he could manage, without impacting their tourney chances. Exhibitions are just that—exhibitions.

Is this official? Michigan's homecoming is Sat, Oct. 4th and Arkansas's is Sat, Nov 1st. It seems weird that 1) these two games would take place 4 weeks apart and 2) we'd play in Fayetteville two days before our season opener against Western Carolina on Nov 3rd.
