I saw a scathing report last night (1/23/26) concerning the most disappointing college teams this season on the CBS Sports Network. The network listed Marquette, Creighton, Georgetown, and Cincinnati as disappointing teams this season. The report mentioned that Coach Miller was on the hot seat coming into this season, and at the mid-way point the team is only 10-9 and 2-4 in conference play. The report pointed out that this year's UC roster has substantial talent. The network stated that it did not expect Miller to return next year.
Miller cannot catch a break right now.

I know, but that year cost him a lot of fan attention plus switching schools. There needs to be some stability. Huggs had a couple of locals. Bobby Brannen, Damon Flint Keith Gregor were all on the same team. I realize that one has to be a quality D1 player, but I believe the Cincy area does have them. Even Jeremiah Davenport brought an upswing in local interest until it didn't. Roland West, Bob Wiesenhahn etc are older but the city rallied around them. I will say I like Tyler due to being local. I really wanted Rayvon G to succeed. So many more locals Jerry Cousins, Steve Wendefere(?) John Jacobs was a favorite.Originally posted by swilsonsp4 View Post
Although Tyler McKinley left Walnut Hills HS to play at Link Academy in MO (a traveling basketball factory), he returned to Cincy for his senior year (Winton Woods).

Therefore, what good would a Kenyon, or Nicky motivational talk do. I doubt if they would bother to listen to Oscar. Therefore, their voices must be to the community - the money people, admins and fans. I see the media really speaking up especially the radio ones. Is it to increase listeners or deep concern? Has UC lost the casual fan and perhaps some die hards? Tyler went elsewhere to play HS ball, a 4 year local kid raised loving the Cats might help but most 18 year olds only know the Brannen and Miller Cats. CWM tried talking UC tradition but didn't really gain the support of the alums. They wanted to see their tradition continue on the court and not in CWM's mouth.Tis a very sad state of a once feared program.

It's not just a few boos. Its loud and prolonged and getting louder with each game.I do believe he is as good as gone. Let's face it... he is making a crap-ton of money with nothing to show for it. I am not booing anybody but I get it. These poor student/athletes are now highly paid mercenaries so they should expect also expect boobirds when they give up.I'll bet you every one of them is plotting their next move in the transfer portal as we speak. JC needs to have a replacement all warmed up in the bullpen right now.

It would have nothing to do with any buyout. Such contract terms are the current cost of doing business. CWM's buyout is in line with P4 head coaches across the country. His agent also represents several other coaches. He knows the going rate and negotiates from that point. If UC brass decide to cut the cord, any replacement coach will have a similar buyout amount (and possibly even higher).Originally posted by bearcatlifer View PostI have season tickets and I enjoy going to the games. I can't bear to watch the away games on TV though. It's too painful. I know it does'nt make complete sense. As an aside... you would think UC would just stop introducing Wes before the game. He gets booed soundly every time. Maybe it is their way of payback for that massive buyout.

Although from a very wealthy family, jobs that pay what CWM is making are hard to find. I think he would want to come back as getting booed out of town doesn't look good on a resume and as a former player, he wants badly to change that. He could always go the Shula route and work for his dad. With that said, I wonder if the UC admins and deep pockets want him back. Do the deep pockets just want control or a championship team is the question.
Another question. In close games, has the team quit on CWM.Last edited by leo from jersey; 01-23-2026, 08:37 AM.

Booing is not a good look for sure but it does come with the job. He's not the only coach to be booed and he won't be the last to have it done. You can be sure though that CWM knows that the entire fanbase from students, alumni, to season ticket holders, former players and donors are not pleased and feel he's not doing the job. I'm not condoning this behavior but it is safe to say that both he and CSS are now feeling like all of these people are feeling buyers remorse now that Cignetti has turned Indiana football around and given a blueprint on how to coach in the NIL era of college sports when it's known that UC settled on CSS when Cignetti could have been had.

Wes Miller gets booed during introductions at home games? Wow. That is bad. That makes me think Miller may not want to come back after this season. What coach wants to go through that? My mother once told me, "do not wear out your welcome". Is it possible that Coach Miller has worn out his UC welcome?Originally posted by bearcatlifer View PostI have season tickets and I enjoy going to the games. Losses will turn a fanbase against a coach faster than anything.Last edited by leeraymond372@gmail.com; 01-23-2026, 01:15 AM.

love for the Cats and eternal hope - plus I like watching the game and venting on the forum while the game is being played.Originally posted by dmoney70 View PostFor those of you still watching this season. What keeps you watching? I stopped last season about halfway through. Watched a few games this season and saw that roster didn't matter with the same coaching. All of his teams look the same so it was pretty plain to me that they were not going to be very good and another lost season was on tap. I understand that I risk getting made fun of for not being a "real" fan but sitting and spending 2+ hours of my time just to be ticked off and miserable wasn't worth it. This season is lost. No tournament again. Next season will be a whole new roster with the same Coach, style, failures. What keeps you watching? I've been watching since the Tony Yates days. I loved the program but I'm not investing again until something changes.

The coach needs to go immediately. So that way we only have to replace the team and not hire a coach without any players again.

I think we're all back to reality now. Once again Wes was out coached in the 2nd Half and had no answer on stopping Arizona.
As Sedz said, even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then (Iowa St). The two game win streak was fun while it lasted.
