John Groce knows how to run an offense. I would love to hire that guy.

Maybe reach out to this guy for a surprise announcement in March. Remember the last best coach we had came from Akron.

That’s the problem, these guys are all new. I was ready last night to put CWM on a slow boat to China, and if they’re still playing at this level in February, UC may do it for me. But, I would love nothing more than to see this team gel and reach the NCAA. As I said last night, the last time I booed these guys was the Presbyterian game in 2011, but they made the Sweet 16 that year. Keeping hope alive.

The problem for me.... Wes Took over a mess from Brannen. I thought he did a decent job hobbling together a team on the fly. Then they went Big 12 and I knew that they didn't have a Big 12 quality lineup. so i cut him a lot slack. Last year it seemed obvious to me...lacked the size and depth and sorry but Day-Day and Jizzle are not big enough/ quick enough to scare most of the Big 12 (there are a lot of future NBA guard talent in the Big 12).

This year Wes seemed to bring in a team, I was kind of impressed. If it gelled they would be a tourney team. But reality is, we are not looking like we are top 12 in the Big 12. And the one thing that I think back on over Wes's years here....I can't think of a single player who improved under Wes's coaching. Like Skillings....Shon Abeav...he is as good as he is going to be right now. (I would think you could teach the guy to not jump sideways when he is chucking that horrible looking 3 point shot.) ****... Viktor Lakhin got worse playing for Wes.

I always had hope that Wes was going to get the talent and make UC competitive, but I'm over that.

Chad B. reported that CWN has closed the practices especially to one Terry Nelson. So much for his wanting all former Cats to come back. CWM says he does post game interviews because it is in his contract, well Terry is the color man and going to practices help. Of course, Terry did say that the current crop of cats were stupid in BB knowledge (low BB IQ ) and they can't win being so dumb. I guess that reflects on the HC and his assistants. Terry is not just the color man but the leading voice of the BB alums. This can't be good. Seems like there is much friction. Will Pino listen to the alums? Will the money men who pampered the alums in the past listen now? Will Oscar or Kenyon speak? We know C. Blount is. Lots of problems in Clifton and I can only imagine if the losses pile up and the play gets even worse. CWM can only quiet the crowd by performing a team transformation. A blow out win tonight is a start, but they better blow them out.

Terry Nelson had been spot on when critizing Wes! Same with critizing his players which are a reflection of teams Coaches.

Yeah, get rid of those guys. They are providing zero positive impact.

There are many obstacles to this plan, principally Davenport's willingness to give up a head coaching role for an assistant role and Wes's willingness to give up coaching strategy. But I can dream.

These are all good points above. I have one glaring question. How much did the Jizzle James situation screw up this team's locker room and on floor chemistry?

Good thought. I was wondering something similar a couple of days ago. However, I was wondering if UC's offense really misses James' 12 points a game. UC could really use his scoring prowess, especially when the team goes through its normal, at least once a game, scoring drought.

Let's throw some of that 3.7 million at Doug Davenport. He was video coordinator (scouting/analytics) at Louisville during the 2012-15 stretch when they made four consecutive sweet sixteens including two final fours and a title. Then an assistant for one year at EKU when they had the 9th best shooting team in the country. Then an assistant for his dad at Bellarmine for their D1 transition. Now in his first year as Bellarmine's head coach, they are a top 40 shooting team, taking more shots at the rim than anywhere else on the floor. Bellarmine's defense and rebounding are terrible, but we don't need him for that. Just hand him the keys to the offense.
