        • Wasn't it posted that Darbyshire went into the pool?

          • I know that this thread is all about basketball. However, someone should mention that UC baseball is playing in the NCAA Tournament (Starkville Regional, Miss) as the #24 ranked team in the country. UC baseball has been ranked as high as #17 on the season. It plays Louisiana in the first round.

I have followed UC sports for a long time. I have NEVER known UC baseball to be ranked. Baseball gets very little attention. Here is something to think about. UC baseball has made the post season before basketball and football in the BIG XII era. Think about that for a while.

Here is another thing to think about. UC baseball has played in TWO (2) NCAA Tournaments (2019 and 2026) since UC basketball has last played in a NCAA Tournament (2018).

            Good luck to UC baseball.

            • ^^^^Um, they played the first-round last year in Nashville (2025). Let's keep this to basketball.

The piece that I read did not mention anything about 2025. I did not know that UC baseball made the NCAAs last year. I like college baseball and did not realize that UC made the post season. So, UC baseball has made the NCAAs three (3) times since basketball has last made the NCAAs.

By the way, UC baseball played in Knoxville last year not Nashville. Thanks for informing me.

                Back to basketball.

My brother Ken played soccer with the Steelers and Jamie and your son. If Eric is as athletic as his dad he should do well.
Fyi I talked to my brother and figured out who you were. Lol

Oh yeah? My son was actually a much better baseball player than soccer player. But, the Steelers were fun, most of the time if you could get around the politics of the team. I do remember Ken. It is hard to forget Jamie booming that ball out of trouble from his fullback position.

By the way, my son remembers you too. Your name and your dads begins with a "G"?

                      • Chad Brendel says Illinois State's Jason Slay (Associate Head Coach) will be added to the staff. He was a former Youngstown State assistant.

Groovy as he may excel in defense --- In his first season in northeast Ohio, Slay helped YSU to a program-record 266 steals, breaking the 27-year-old record, while the offense scored the fifth-most points in school history.

The staff now includes seven assistants, in addition to a chief of staff, video coordinator, and four other support members. All seven are permitted to coach in practice (which Calhoun allows to a much greater extent than any UC HC since Bob Huggins. The other three didn't delegate much, aside from Darren Savino helping Mick Cronin.).

The NCAA allows for three of the assistants to go on the road to recruit. They're supposed to be the same three each time, but staffs get creative in getting one of the other coaches to sub in. It's sort of like when one of the Reds' players is going through a bad stretch, he winds up on IL with a mysterious condition. [See Ke'Bryan Hayes.]
