Yeah, but this guy is almost always wrong. He is just not a reliable source. The fact that all concerned schools have been so tight lipped, except for Boren, leads me to believe that all these outsiders claiming to have inside information are just not worth paying attention to. For example if you follow Flugaur he was absolutely convinced for months and months that it was UC and UConn and it was a done deal, but he didn't have any more to go on than you and me, just an educated guess like everybody else. If we start hearing anything from Kirk Bohls or Chuck Carleton or Brent McMurphy that would be a different story. At this point I'm resigned to the fact that the Big 12 won't expand, and if so that's OK with me.

        • OK, so I'll try and recap yesterday. Article comes out saying Boren is saying that OU is a no vote against expansion. Boren issues a statement saying OU does not have a position yet. I believe Boren, because even though OU has had plenty of time to figure this out, the problem is still Texas and more specifically Houston. OU does not want Houston and Houston doesn't have enough votes. No one outside of the state Texas is going to vote for Houston or probably any of the Texas schools currently on the list as this would consolidate the power of Texas even further. I don't think that OU is ever going to capitulate to what Texas wants in this matter so it may matter more whether Texas can get enough votes from the other non Texas schools for Houston at this point.

I don't think BYU is dead in the water completely but If they don't make some sort of move with the Honor Code situation by Oct. 17, They're going to be a ship without a sail for sure.

I think if I'm OU at this point, I let this die and go to the B1G in 2025 and call it a day. Let Texas twist in the wind.

I still see this as OU favoring expansion in a philosophically different way than Texas favors it. Texas is looking to make good on old friendships to the SWC and keeping travel as low as possible for fans without seeing that media footprint is the most important element. OU is looking at what is best for the Big 12 as a conference, while keeping options open. The BYU HC is throwing a wrench into the only plausible compromise which is adding four, three outside of Texas.

Maybe BYU gets its HC reworded. Less likely Texas says yes to two schools outside Texas. That's it folks. No way does a two school expansion get approved with one in Texas. Nor will a four team expansion get approved without BYU/UH as Texas wants them both. Less than one percent chance of Houston plus three other AAC teams in eastern time zone.

The horse trading options are known, now they're are staring each other down. Who will blink? Will anyone blink?

                    • Another one probably not worth wasting time on. I've seen the same thing on and off from the beginning, he cites no source and just says it's the latest theory. He's just guessing like everybody else, and if he turns out to be right he'll heap praise on himself, and if wrong will say nothing and move on. All these twitter experts are just like us trying to guess what will happen, and few if any of them have any real sources worth listening to.

The UConn paper chose UConn, in related news, after much research they discovered that the Pope is Catholic.

                            • What if they added Houston and Cincy and played a round robin schedule? It could work if each team had one "rivalry game" that is played in the Cotton Bowl. You get 11 conference games per year, five home, five away, and one at Cotton Bowl. The Cotton Bowl gets six games with fans needing to buy all six games for preferred seating and single game tickets available around Aug 1st. Except each school gets 3,000 tickets early to distribute to the biggest donors. The Cotton Bowl game will be treated as neutral site where game proceeds get split 50/50 between the participating teams after Cotton Bowl/Conference gets their cut. This will allow the conference to own the Dallas market for six games. Schools get option of playing another P-5 team in home and home series and can schedule in a way where every other year you get two non-conference home games and only one in the other years. Surey playing Cincinnati or Houston is better strength of schedule to than a directional upstate or downstate FCS game.
