Saw yesterday where Tulane is the only school to ever leave the SEC in 1950.

Eject Texas and add both SMU and Houston, BYU, UC and Memphis (or UConn) to get to fourteen teams effective Jul 1, 2016. The new schools will be probationary members and the billion$ can be readily split between the nine remaining schools (offer TCU and WVU full shares now instead of making them wait another year or two).
This is of course a pipedream, but it may be the only threat that will make Texas listen and then they may still choose ejection now rather than later. Although, I can't see either the B!G or the SEC welcoming the LHN. I think the NBC contract was one of the reasons ND didn't fit into the B!G when they added Penn State ( one of many reasons).Red and Black are more of an Attitude than merely a color combination.

Unfortunately they are not delusional, but just holding all the cards. Given they were allowed to cut their own deal, they can sit back and only accept deals that will enhance their situation. Committing themselves to longer terms, anything less than revenue enhancements isn't something they need to rush into. Unless there is a breech, i seriously doubt the rest of the members can disassociate themselves from their texas affiliation unless they pay them to go away.

Greg Swaim reporting 8-2 vote for expansion. Any other confirmation? Is this where school lean or is this a real vote?Red and Black are more of an Attitude than merely a color combination.

Someone help me with this: say you're TCU and TxT. Sure UT got TCU in over drinks and winks. But for the love of all that's holy, if you're those two schools, looking at the very possible extinction of your gravy train, why in the heck would you put in blindly with Texas? That makes no sense to me. What does Texas hold over their heads that makes them so lock step with UT? Is there some double-secret agreement they signed? If one or both violate that, what can UT do to them? Truly. Don't. Get. It.
But then, even Hitler had his followers. I guess that's the answer. The Red & Black shall triumph as they are struggling down the field. Oh fight for Cincinnati: McMicken's foes shall yield.

And that's just a small sample of the crap that goes on in Columbus.
Just to tie this back into expansion, Texas Tech could reasonably stand to lose a significant amount of state funding by ticking off the wrong people in the legislature. The board of Regents of both Tech and UT are made of of a combination of business leaders, lawyers and political operatives much like the ones in Ohio. The difference maybe in that there has been no Democratic Governor here in Texas since Ann Richards in 1990. So all the political operatives on both boards are Republicans from W., Rick Perry and Greg Abbott's administrations. Nothing wrong with that but it means that both boards of Tech and Texas lean almost completely conservative and as such are going to be resistant to change the status quo in general, not just in football. Nobody likes to to have the money train's schedule interrupted.Brent Wyrick
