I think we're stuck with this for a couple of years, maybe more? I saw a proposal floated today to make it closer to March Madness. 16 Seeds with an S curve. No byes.

How long will this version of the playoffs be in effect? I think it needs revised. Seed the teams 1-12 and do not give the bye to conference champions. 12 teams is too many also. Drop it down to 8 because really only 2-3 teams have a legitimate shot at a NC anyway. That's my opinion.

Here is your bowl game update:

There were some pretty good games and some lopsided blowouts.

If you are watching the tosu and Tenn game, you have seen tosu go up 14-0 and currently have the ball. Tennessee has yet to get a first down and have about -20 yards. My grandchildren's other grandfather is a huge and obnoxious Tennessee fan so I am torn on who I want to win. I dislike tosu but I think that I have more disdain for the SEC. Plus, I would like to bring up a loss during Christmas. lol.

Everyone's "favorite" Kirk Herbstreit bashed on Indiana saying that the game was an embarrassment and that they had no rights to being in the CFP. Can the guy ever be decent?

Watched most of SMU at Penn St. Apparently the boosters at SMU can buy a conference and players but forgot to purchase a sound system to pipe in noise to their IPF. Happy Valley really did a number on them today. lots of false starts and confusion.

Gives me faith about lower conference players moving up to bigger conferences. Indiana, who by the way IMHO, was greatly overrated, but nonetheless in the CFP, they had 13 transfers from James Madison. They had a total of 30 transfers come in and had a very good year, despite a somewhat easy schedule for a Big 10 team.
Hopefully some of those lower conference players we get will help turn us it around for next year.

Welcome to the Midweek bowl season where Memphis takes on WVU in Frisco TX tonight . Currently 73, super humid and expecting thunderstorms around 7:00.
This struck me as weird but it's the first time they've played each other. Unless WVU installs a new RichRod offense for the bowl, I would expect Memphis to roll in this one.

Several schools behind UC in the APR ratings also opted not to try to make this bowl game at a late date. La Tech had around the 17th ranked APR out of 19 or 20 5-7 teams, so 15 other schools also said no thanks.

This is entirely on the Marshall administration for not retaining a coach who won the conference. I have no idea what happened there other than Marshall's admin either didn't like the guy or didn't want to pay him what he was worth. He ended up at Southern Miss which is a lateral move in the same conference.
Anyway, UC would have back filled that bowl opening at 5-7 based on our APR scores. which is the primary deciding factor. Our players had been off campus for a week and not working out or practicing. This and I'm sure other factors like two missing defensive backfield coaches and our own transfer portal issues kept us from accepting this bowl.
Fortunately for the Independence Bowl, hometown team LA Tech has stepped in to play Army and the game will be played as scheduled.

This isn't really a bowl but I wanted to promote this article on the Army/Navy game because it's really good.

Miami of Ohio, whom we easily beat, is going to the Snoop Dog Arizona Bowl in Tucson against Colorado on Dec. 28. Horrible bowl, but better than nothing. Snoop Dog????
