Bowl Season/Championship Playoff 2024
Here are the major conference championship games that will be sending at least 1 team to the playoffs. What are the matchups in college football's conference championship games? tosu will go even though they are not in their conference championship game. This is why the B1g and SEC pushed to have the expanded playoffs. Combined, they may end up with 9 teams in the playoff.Tags: None

I think we can eliminate the conference championship games, and start the Playoff first weekend in December, maybe start a new tradition with Army/Navy as first game of the season.Originally posted by London 'Cat View PostNow that the first playoff season has ended, I hope they look back and change some things up. The seeding was all wrong - no need for the byes for conference champs. I am not sure they need 12 teams - at least 4 teams never had a chance at winning the championship. And I think it was too long - it should end no more than a week after the new year.
Having said that, I think a lot of teams will study aO$U's model going forward. That team supposedly spent $20M in NIL money but a closer examination, at least on defense, shows that the majority of those players were 3-4 year players on its roster. Smart coaches will use it as an example of why a player should stay the course at a school and grow together as a team, using the transfer portal to fill in holes on a roster. Depending on the transfer portal to build your team is not a recipe for success but can be used to supplement your roster. HS recruiting will remain the core of a team. Those coaches who can sell players that vision will be successful in the current playoff model.
As to 3-4 year players, I think every coach is preaching that right now. The problem is players have to go where they'll be paid, which means schools have to up their offers to players after freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons, unless the Wisconsin case works out for the BAdger allowing multi-year NIL deals.

The final score did not show a total blowout but this game was not close after it was 7-7 early.

After the first half, the answer appears to be no.Originally posted by Lobot View PostHere we go tonight Marcus, Denbrock, Mickens and Gino vs. tOSU. Does ND have enough guys to pull it off?

Texas had plenty of chances down inside the 10 with under 3 minutes to play. Then a fumble and the game was over. I hate to see tosu in the championship game but at least there are no SEC teams.

I went to bed at halftime and missed all the excitement. As boring as the first half was the second half was evidently exciting. Happy for all the ex-UC coaches that will now play for a national championship. Rooting hard for Texas tonight to close out the B1G from the natty.

That was one of the best FB games of the year. O$U plays Texas tonight, and that should be a good one too.

I really did not believe that ND would get past Penn State but they will be playing for the national championship against either tosu or Texas.

Just so everyone knows, the ND player who ran back the opening kick-off was just a lowly transfer from Marshall. I guess that you can find gems anywhere. It just goes to show you that sometime the underrated high school players are better than overrated high school players (Juice comes to mind).

Yes, congrats to Coach Freeman and MM...those QB runs by ND were problematic for Georgia...don't know if Riley Leonard can continue to do that without ending up in intensive care...if he gets injured ND has no chance at a Natty.

Well, as I tweeted at them . Marcus Freeman and Mike Mickens have beaten Georgia one school too late. Impressive win by ND.

Absolutely...you have to get to the QB if you call that play...ASU proved the saying "you live by the blitz... and die by the blitz"Originally posted by longtimefan View Post
I was too. Who the heck at ASU called that all out blitz in OT, on 4th and 13? They showed it early and gave Texas a chance to change the play. ASU had the game, and blew it, unbelievable.
