I read an article that involved the coach of the Broncos saying he was contemplating retirement... which was surprising... I think there's a place for him as QB3 somehwere... where he can still get paid more than any of us make in a year.

Not sure he has much time left in the league but hopefully he can have some success before the next phase of his career. Who knows maybe a position at UC when he’s done playing.

I assume you mean because of his ability and not his age. He's only 25.

It sounded like he had a few potential opportunities other places this year and maybe he just wasn't happy in those areas. I'm guessing he took a team friendly deal to come home and settle down here with his family. Hopefully he gets to stick on the Bengals roster a few years and maybe move into helping out the Bearcats in some capacity afterwards. Even if it's practice squad they make really good $$$

Yes. He wasn’t successful as a starter and just signed as presumably the third QB / has been floating around.

No disrespect, just not sure how long you can play when teams continue to move on from you.

Here are my thoughts on this. He is a competitor. He does his homework. He studies game films. He is athletic. He is a team player. Has enough experience in the league with several teams that he can do the scouting. He can help a team without playing. Keep in mind that his stats were not all that bad with Atlanta when Atlanta was a bad team all around. He does throw too many interceptions in the NFL. In all counts, he is a good man and I wish him the best in whatever he does.

Ridder is wearing #4 out at training camp today

Desmond Ridder on the Cincinnati homecoming: “There were a lot of emotions coming back. The place that brought me here, driving down I-71 just opening up down that hill, and seeing (downtown) where you're gonna be at, hopefully this year and obviously years to come. It was a great, great feeling.”

Des had one TD in the opening exhibition with a long of 48. Bengals vs. Eagles Box Score, August 7, 2025 | The Football Database Over all stats were not great.

I wonder if the Bengals are trying him out to see if he could be a future #2... Jake Browning is probably going to be a lot more expensive after this year (his contract is up). Either way I hope Des sticks around Cincy for a long time and can be more involved with the Bearcats.

The touchdown was great but he had open receivers he missed. He has to improve is accuracy to stick around this year.

Rough day for Des today... 8/20 QB rating of 30... Bengals overall looked terrible... with starters sitting. Hopefully he gets to keep a roster spot still or make the practice squad at least

If he doesn’t at least make the practice squad, it could be the end for him. I hope not, though. He did make a few nice throws that were dropped by the receivers.
