You just have to stay away from that addiction. if you just try it once, you are hooked again. If gambling addiction is the same as drug addiction, a gambling addict will always be an addict that is in recovery. You are correct, he will have to be watched day and night. He will have to just say no every time the urge hits him. At least he has admitted that he has a problem. I hope that he can find a program that will help him stay away from gambling. I also hope that he does not turn to other addictions. Often, if a person gets addicted to one vice, he has an addictive personality which could be transferred to other vices. That was my public service announcement for the decade.
Yep. He’ll flip on his car radio and get a Fanduel commercial. If he tries to watch a game on tv he’ll see ESPN Bet or something else. Everywhere you look these days it’s sports books. He’ll have to climb Mt. Everest every day.

I am tired of the addicting of America. There is absolutely no medical proof and just conjecture. Addiction is a big business $$$. I wish to bring back the days of Nancy Reagan and "Just say no". As a Christian my view is that it is only being addicted to one's fleshly desires and only caring about that. This is why Jesus told the leading Jewish teacher that he would have to have a new start and not just rituals and programs. Jesus called that being born again and not attendance at church or programs. Paul said it is possible as he wrote ": "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come!"". A whole new life. I agree that the addiction to pleasing the desires of the flesh is a life time addiction unless one submits to the Lordship of Christ and receives complete and total victory. I am not talking about going to church but a spiritual miracle which Jesus does in man. Then grow up in that new life by prayer, bible study and quality Christian fellowship. I shared this as others shared their belief concerning addiction and so it is fair to share mine.

My guess is this is not over for UC.

And the NCAA still has to get that Texas judge ruling overturned, or there are no rules on gambling for college athletes.

Sorsby agent: 'If anybody should be catching heat, it should be Cincinnati'

It isn't over yet and the scapegoats must be found. UC knew and did little, if anything according to the agent.

According to the school, they met the minimum standards according to the rules on gambling.

It is time for some action as one knows that Pinto isn't going to let the heat hit him. One would think that he had to know. Why did they let him play will be quite the question. Were the standards UC met just dealt with all players as there have been few cases that we know of concerning the actual gambling on games. What did the HC, AD and possibly Pinto think when they found out he bet on IU as a member of the team?

Move on take our punishment like mature , educated , civilized adults and show integrity in and out of the classrooms.

I believe the case against the NCAA was dismissed so the decision stands that he cannot play NCAA football.

This is legal maneuvering to try to resolve the lawsuit UC filed to collect the $1M, IMO. The article indicates that UC looked into it at the time and did not find anything to substantiate Sorsby was gambling. We will see what comes from this but I don’t believe any sanctions will be imposed on UC. One never knows though.

Understandable. I just want this chapter to be passed (no pun). I do have some serious concerns with the coaching staff and administrations. They may have done what was required, but if they knew he gambled on his team, why would they think he wouldn't do it again.

This is why I have been so positive concerning the basketball program. Perhaps no program can be clean, but I am naive. I just want to root for the Cats to win without the drama except in the games.

i've seen reports that UC knew he was gambling, but they've stated that none of it was against any laws and/or ncaa rules, and that they then did education / training with Sorsby. Who knows. But, nothing with this mess would surprise me at this point.

If UC officials knew of Sorsby's gambling, regardless if it was in games he participated in and continued to play him, or merely done just the minimum required by the rules to address the situation, then CSS needs to be let go as well.

He is not worth 2nd round. Looking at his last year in college, he is not a NFL caliber QB.

desperation causes many unwise choices. Will a team "gamble" that they can pick him up later in a further down round.

There will be a trickledown effect if he is taken. Every team after that team in the 2027 draft will move up a spot.

NFL has declined to hold a supplemental draft.

Sorsby's next chance to play in the NFL will be in 2027.
