I’m not reading at all into it, simply sharing information. I have no idea why he edited it out, but let’s hope he stays as I think he can be a very good player if he works on his ball handling and back to basket game. He can have an NBA skill set which would help this team and him personally.

In one of that last games Betsy came in and uncharacteristically got under the rim and was mixing it up for rebounds. I facetiously made a remark as where has this guy been all season. Betsy has a very high ceiling so we don't know if his game now is a product of Millers scheme or his needing more coaching. But I do hope he stays and treys to develope.

We've made contact with a couple of guys in the portal.

Jacari White. 6'3 guard from North Dakota State. This guy can actually play despite the small school vibes. He has one to play thanks to the JuCo ruling

Wes Enis, 6'1 guard from D-II Lincoln Memorial U . Shoots 40% from deep on a high volume of 3s. Has two years left.

Before anyone looks at these guys and wonders why we're recruiting them and why the recruiting strategy seemingly changed, Go look at what Drake U did in the transfer portal this season.

White posted a 13.6 BPM against top 100 competition this year. (For reference, Cooper Flagg led the nation with a 15.0 BPM, Johni Broome is second at 13.3). Small sample size, but yeah he can play. He had a 2.9 BPM over the whole season. White is a poor defender but a 41% career three point shooter on 446 attempts. He's a wing who can shoot. I'll take it.

What do you mean by this? I didn't know we had a recruiting strategy. Our current roster is made up of high school recruits, high major transfers, mid major transfers, a Juco transfer, and a foreign player. We seem to be pulling from all pools already, which is good.

Found this on Enis. It's paywalled but apparently he's a top 5 guard in the portal?

I'm just trying to get ahead of the crowd that always bashes small school portal recruits.

As far as strategy goes, I'm not sure there really is one. However these guys are from way smaller programs than the guys we've been bringing in so far in the portal era. I don't think we've ever recruited a portal player from D-II before for example so maybe there's been a shift in thinking with the new GM on board.

Jacari White is from the same high school in Orlando as Jizzle. He graduated two years before him.

                      Gotcha, that makes sense.

                      • Maybe Miller is hitting the D-II scene because players are cheaper to get. I saw what Drake did with that really small lineup to Missouri. Guess who Drake plays next? Texas Tech. That should be a good game. Two wing-oriented teams. Just because Drake can pull it off does not mean that Miller can pull it off. To me, Miller's teams work best when he plays two bigs.

Speaking of big men. Does anyone know of any bigs that UC may be looking at? As it now stands, McKinley is the only viable big man still left on the roster.

How many guards are enough? There are two freshman guards coming in already. UC already has a roster full of wings and guards, not unless Miller expects to lose a number of guys. From what I have been reading, Miller appears to feel that most of the players are returning.

It really bothers me that Miller appears to think of his big men as secondary. He always seems to think of his big men last. Think about this for a second, UC lost every game this year to teams that play with the two bigs at the same time. Hopefully, Miller will think hard about roster construction this time. I have nothing against the wing lineup. However, there are times when the wing lineup is not big or physical enough to win the game. That is when the bigger lineups are needed. Miller needs to think about playing different ways with different size lineups.

And we're recruiting guards and wings. Miller can't find a decent center with a search warrant. We need people who can pick, block out, rebound, and not afraid of being touched. These guys now play like we're still under covid restrictions don't want to be around others.

                            • Decent centers don't grow on trees and the ones that are out there command lots of NIL cash in this era. I'd settle for Aziz 2.0, a rim protector and rebounder. I'd rather have the broad shoulder beef at the 4 spot.

Right. There are very few skilled bigs, but wings do in fact grow on trees. It's much easier to assemble a team full of wings. Drake and McNeese are perfect examples. And Drake is one of the best rebounding teams in the country. You don't have to be big to rebound.

Another example is Colorado St. Look at what their all wing lineup is doing to Memphis's huge frontcourt.
