He's back -- see 2025-26 roster thread ... His post includes a video which ends with a graphic that says "2'S BACK."

Scott Springer also reported the school confirmed this.

Thanks. I missed that. Overall, I think that's good news.

He just sued the NCAA over eligibility (apparently was denied, prior to the suit, on April 1). He began his career at a D-II and redshirted one year to get adjusted to college life, learn English during COVID. Seems to be arguing that his 16 games in 2021-22 shouldn't have counted due to his circumstances...

Brzovic is an offensive minded big. Posted a 4.5 BPM, #27 in the portal. High usage efficient scorer (57% eFG) and a good passer (20% assists), but only an ok rebounder (6% Oreb) and defender (1.7 DBPM). He would be a great complement to a good defensive/rebounding big.

6'10 sophomore Malique Ewin is also in the portal from Florida St, an elite rebounder and high usage interior scorer with a 5.6 BPM.

We should have money to spend now, gotta land a couple stars instead of loading up on role players.
If UC can get Malique Ewin that would be big. Ewin hits for 14.2 points a game and pulls down about 7 or 8 rebounds a game. He turns the ball over a little and he is not much of a shot blocker, but he can block shots. His free throw shooting is not so good. Nevertheless, he can help UC. He would be able to move into a starting role. Not sure how good he is defensively. However, he is worth taking a chance on.

          • Would Papa Kante 6-10/215 C, be worth taking a chance on? Kante has a physically imposing frame with good size, broad shoulders, a strong body, and reported 7-foot-4 wingspan. He can be a dominant rebounder and active shot-blocker. He rim-runs well, is just starting to utilize his big body to seal for easy buckets inside, and has made a lot of progress with his hands and reactions in quick catch-and-finish situations. Kante also has good touch and footwork, but becomes less efficient when trying too hard to prove his face-up skill set. He has become a consistent free-throw shooter and isn’t incapable of knocking down an occasional open rhythm three, but too often picks-and-pops instead of rolling hard to the rim, settles for tough-twos in the mid-post area, or stops the ball with too many fakes and pivots trying to create his own shot. Defensively, he’s physical in the post and fairly mobile hedging ball-screens for a player his size, albeit a true center and not overly switchable. Overall, he has good size, measurables, a college ready body, and is an asset on the glass and defensive end. His offense continues to develop, but will likely need to be simplified at the next level.

Kante is a project. In his freshman year he was very limited offensively and fouled too much. He's the kind of guy you give a 13-15th spot to and see if he can develop.

Yeah, felt he was a project. Could develope into a decent post player in time.

Red and Black are more of an Attitude than merely a color combination.

Still a project. He didn't see much action at UNC Asheville this year, appearing in just 10 games with a negative 4.7 BPM. He logged 24 minutes in the season opener against Alabama and scored 6 points with 6 rebounds. Only recorded double digit minutes in one other game.

He put up a 5.9 BPM this year thanks to 43% shooting from deep, a solid 7% OReb rate for a wing, and a turnover rate under 10%. He's a low usage offensive player, but the metrics indicate he's a great glue guy.
Sorry if already posted but he just committed to Texas Tech.

Texas Tech is spending. BYU is spending. Houston is Houston. Kansas is Kansas. Arizona loading up. Big 12 is gonna be a gauntlet.

                        And then there's Cincinnati.

                        • So, if I’m not wrong, three guys (Mitchell, Betsey, Griffith) have indicated they’re open to returning. Is that because the coach offered them, and he didn’t make the same offer to the others? Assuming Mitchell has already moved back to Texas, that leaves Betsey or Griffith, it would be great if CWM could keep one or both of them.

I'm guessing Wes talked to them about money and anticipated playing time/role next year and they said, "that's not a bad offer, but I'd like to see what I can get on the open market". Wes probably said, something along the lines of "go ahead, I don't promise the same offer will be available for you if you want to return". But at there's a chance they'll be back at least.

The others probably said something more along the lines of "I don't like that offer, so I'm out". Or in Page's case, he may have been told there wasn't a spot for him.

Speaking of TX Tech, JT Toppin is returning (supposedly for $4M).

That's the problem we have now. A bunch of backups. We need starters that can play in the big 12 not stars in the lesser leagues who can't cut it in the 12.
