Big 12 matchups should be announced tomorrow, I believe. Each team will face three Big 12 opponents twice, the rest once.

Per Jon Rothstein, Houston will play UC twice. (Also, per JR, UC will not face Arizona, Kansas or BYU twice per his tweets about those teams' Big 12 double plays).

Houston, WVU, and UCF would make the most sense as double plays based on history/geography.

UC will, in fact, play Houston, UCF and WVU twice each

Other home opponents: Colorado, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Utah, BYU and Baylor*

Other away opponents: Arizona, Arizona State, Kansas, Texas Tech, TCU and Kansas State

        * Dan Skillings at UC alert
(Bearcat Bunch on Twitter points out that Thiam will play at UCF, Harris will play at WVU, Kriisa will play at Arizona, WVU)

Chad Brendel also noted that UC will face a P4 team at a neutral site, but he's not at liberty to divulge the name of the opponent. When someone commented that the UD game would be UC's 2nd strongest (behind UofL), Brendel replied, "It's not."

Sounds good to me. Maybe said it before in this very thread, but gone are generally the days where a coach on the hot seat (or trying to start off easy with a roster overhaul) can just schedule light and think they can make the Tournament by just stacking up wins in November/December and being okay in conference play. UC will be best served headed into Big 12 play with some actual tests and the fans will appreciate a better slate.

Since UC must fill 13 OOC slots, there still likely will be a couple low majors (MEAC/SWAC/NEC, e.g.) on the schedule. XU, UD, UofL, neutral P4, & one or two Q1/Q2 opponents (per Brendel) would make 5 or 6, leaving another 7-8 to fill. That doesn't mean they all would be Q4, but there likely will be some.

Chad Brendel gave a couple hints that UC will play an SEC team that Bart Torvik projects to be in the Top 40. That includes 13 of the 16 SEC schools (excluding LSU, MS, SC). The game will occur at an unnamed neutral site.

Taking a look at Dayton's projected starting line-up:

                        C - 7'1 Amael L'Etang (2nd year) - 7.1 ppg, 4.3 rpg over 16.8 mpg (5.8 BPM) ...scored 2 points with 4 rebounds in 12 min against UC last season
PF - 6'8 Jacob Conner (4th year) - 2.7 ppg, 1.1 rpg over 12.1 mpg (-2.3 BPM) ...played 1 minute and committed 1 turnover against UC last season
                        SF - 6'5 De'Shayne Montgomery (3rd year transfer from Georgia) - 6.5 ppg, 2.1 rpg over 15.5 mpg (2.0 BPM)
SG - 5'11 Javon Bennett (4th year) - 11.6 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 2.1 apg over 31 mpg (4.0 BPM) ...scored 4 points on 1-6 shooting in 20 min against UC last season
                        PG - 6'3 Adam Nije (2nd year transfer from Iona) - 12.4 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 4.2 apg over 29.3 mpg (-2.5 BPM)

The 4 spot looks like it will be the most "up for grabs" but the other positions look like fairly safe bets.

Maybe DS thinks he’ll get a nice reception, not from me. I hope we boo him out of the gym.

We already did last year due to his wretched performance. The body part which caused his lack of effort was his heart.

I have said it here before but it bears repeating: He was a projected leader for this team and his lackadaisical demeanor was a cancer that had to go..He's probably a fine young man but he obviously doesn't get it.
