    1. The ACC's court case against Maryland over the $50 million exit fee. You have to believe schools like Florida State and others are watching intently at that outcome and perhaps eyeing a move.
    2. The Big 10 goes to 16.

There are so many permutations but those are the two big ones. The 7 remaining catholic schools could vote to dissolve the conference but I don't see that happening, they get more TV money being tied in with FBS schools.

UC is in as good a position as could be expected. If the ACC needs to add again there are really only four targets: UC, USF, UConn and Navy football. Also, should the Big 12 look to expand they could be a target there as well, although that is less likely, and you have to figure BYU would get another look from them. But none of these schools, including UC, add revenue to the existing member schools. Louisville won't add revenue for the ACC. But as we're seeing with the Big East, when you're being raided it's foremost about survival.

Here's my big prediction, there are still more moves coming in conference realignment. And it's the ACC that's in the greatest danger of losing members. If UC just remains patient things should work out for them. I trust that President Ono and Whit Babcock are doing everything they can to make sure UC athletics aren't relegated to something akin to Conference USA.
    Exactly. Patience everybody.

Every year stuck in the mid-major Big East is another year that the school will struggle with recruiting, struggle with keeping fan interest up, etc.

You can give it a patriotic name, but it still sucks.

        • This personality bickering is pointless.

That said, UC doesn't have a good seat in this game of musical chairs. The music is still playing. FSU wants out. The Big 10 is looking toward the Atlantic coast. Openings are likely. Guaranteed? Nope. About the only thing we can do at this point is to hold on and hope that Ono and Babcock stay on this and pump UC to the ACC at every chance.

That's an excellent article by Decourcy. At least there is one media person out there that respects our program.

              • There will be opportunities for UC to move given the nature of conference realignment. Once Florida State or Georgia Tech jump, UC will get the call. It's simply a numbers game. In the meantime, fans MUST support our teams! Further, Whit, Santa and the BOT must have a plan to improve facilities (our Achilles heal) and increase the budget.

We still have to keep improving to make sure somebody does not leap ahead of us. We could start by making a financial commitment that has never been there before, and that means keeping our coaches, generating revenue, upgrading facilities. Oh, and for the first time, market the living **** out of our program.

That is number 1 on the list.

                    • Seems much more likely that UC joins big 12 to me. If reports are true, that acc moved in on Louisville because the big 12 was also interested. This leads me to believe the Big 12 will now move quickly on to Plan B and that is us.

Plan B is FSU and Clemson once the ACC vs. MD lawsuit over exit fees is resolved. If MD is successful, watch out! The floodgates will open in the ACC.

That creates a spot for us in the ACC or soon to be known as Big East v4.0 which is greater than C-USA/BE v3.0.

I disagree. I think we could be in the Big12 by next week. They have to act. FSU and Clemson aren't joining the big 12. ACC is a better conference.

I hope you're right, but I'm not sure I share your opinion on which is the better conference. If you judge them by demand (TV $$) I think the Big 12 wins hands down does it not?

                            • Big 12 isn't going to add just to add. Why would they add us?

I'm not sure I agree with you. If they really wanted to expand, I think they would have made an offer to Louisville. I think the B12 was Lousiville's first choice, but they did not get an offer, so they accepted the offer from the ACC.

I'd take the B12 if they offered though. I know the geography does not fit as well, but when I first started following UC we were in the MVC with Drake, Bradley, Wichita State, North Texas State etc and that worked out pretty well with the same geographic footprint.
