UC / U of L / UConn to ACC?

Not a shocker, but I think this article hints at the reason behind Louisville now vs. UConn and us. I don't think this is over by any means with the SEC and B1G still sniffing around some ACC schools like UVA, VT, CU, GT and FSU.

Some of this is just circumstance and poor luck, but I am ticked off this morning, and want to know how much of this can be blamed on Greg Williams and his efforts to hold the crumbling Big East together.
Was he working to move us to a better situation at all? We may never know the answer to that question. I feel like UC got a very late start on looking out for it's future in conference play.

I will be a fan of this team no matter what happens. However, it seems like playing one season in the "new" Big East (once the other schools leave for the ACC/B10) will kill whatever momentum we have built in regards to a fan base for football. Hopefully we aren't around long enough for that to happen...

My feeling is it was a pre-emptive move to block the Big 12 from limiting their options down the road and that UConn and or UC will follow when things heat up again.
At least that's what I'm telling myself...McMicken College of Arts & Sciences 1999

UL and RU are both now talking about playing in the ACC and B1G, respectively, by 2014. A lot has happened since 2010 and I think a lot will happen by 2014 with UC in the mix. We need to be patient and continue to support our school and teams. Unlike President Williams, I don't think President Ono is content to ride the sinking ship down.
My question is how will this news effect the new schools, primarily Boise, joining. This could be the straw that broke the camel's back for them.RIP #12 Greg Cook (1946-2012)

Here is going to be the issue... it is going to be super hard to recruit for any sports programs now. If you are from the area, why would you want to go to the Big East when the SEC, ACC and B1G are just a couple hours away? If you are an up and coming coach, why would you come here? The Big East is not really going to be a step up from MAC and CUSA anymore. How many people who are not already a fan are going to get excited about this team playing Tulane, Temple, Memphis etc. in football?
I fear it is going to be near impossible to build on the success of the past years and every year that passes will make us less and less attractive to any other conference.
