Did you mean focus on CCG rather than discuss/decide about expansion or discuss CCG rather than decide about the CCG?
Red and Black are more of an Attitude than merely a color combination.

    • Based on what I'm seeing I don't think they're going to reach any kind of conclusion on either subject until after June. Seems like at least the first meeting will focus on talking about the CCG. After that bets are off without a copy of the agendas. Be nice if we had one.

            • I look for Bowlsby and the Texas people that he works for to continue "studying" this. They're going to "study" this to death. Even after watching the monster TV contract that the B1G just signed, the obvious thing to do will be lost on the Big 12 "leaders" (as if there's "leadership" in the Big 12). Meanwhile, all this time spent "studying" gives Oklahoma and Kansas time to develop their exit strategy to the SEC or B1G.

              • Unless Texas backs off or the rest of the conference throws them under the bus, I'd look for OU and KU to leave the conference at this point for the B1G . B1G talked to them 2 years ago. It's probably a process that's farther along than we think.

Does 4-5% move the needle enough to cause expansion? I say no. I am starting to think that our best chance is Ok and Kansas getting peeved and leaving thereby starting the next round of musical chairs. Hopefully there will a chair for us when the music stops.

                            • I'm usually an optimist but I really don't think we will ever get into the Big 12 &/or any other "so called" power conference. I sincerely hope I am wrong!

I feel your pain. I can really see the big12 getting poached for Okla, Kansas or even Texas and then we get in the Big 12 along with Memphis, UConn, etc. Then the Power 5 eventually becomes the Power 4 and we are on the outside looking in again. At least our conference would be better because you would be combining the best of the Big 12 (minus the schools that leave) and the AAC. The new league would be better in basketball and football then the AAC because you would be dropping the bottom feeders and adding some better schools even without power 4 status. Maybe then we could get a better TV contract? Xavier gets more money from their Big East tv contract than us even though they are not in a power 5 conference either.

Then there is the worst case scenario. The power 5 (or 4) forms their own league and we are banished to the lower level of college athletics. At least in that case, Xavier would be left out too.
