              • Can anyone make an intelligent guess as to the monetary value of a typical NIL deal for basketball?

I have heard that we have one player with a 300K deal but I don't what the terms are. Length etc.

                      • Urban Meyer on the Lou Holtz podcast via Eleven Warriors

“America is built on name and likeness,” Meyer explained. “If Lou Holtz or Urban Meyer or Marvin Harrison Jr. and C.J. Stroud want to go use their name and help sell cars or help a business, that’s great. But to have a 17-year-old demand money for a visit or to pay these players a lot of money to go visit a charity for 20 minutes and they write a check for $50,000, that’s cheating. That’s not what this is all about. I’m very disappointed in where it went.”
After some back-and-forth banter with Holtz, Meyer criticized the role of collectives in college sports.

“If you’re a woman basketball player like the great girl from Iowa (Caitlin Clark) and they want to put her on a billboard and pay her, they should be able to do that,” he said. “But that’s not what happened. What’s happened is the arms race of collecting money from donors and the donors are simply paying players. That’s what I understand is happening, and I don’t like that.”

But let’s face it. That’s the reality in college athletics.

I thought the exact same thing when I saw this. It was probably inevitable.

Regardless of whether or not this particular lawsuit is successful, these types of things, along with the transfer portal, can serve as regulators in the NIL space. Perhaps more than the NCAA itself.

If I was a willing large-scale donor, I would be a lot more selective/cautious of $'s flowing knowing that my "donation" can walk out the door to another university, or that I could be sued by disgruntled former prospects.

                              • Peyton Houston, a class of 2027 high school quarterback, signed a "life-changing" NIL deal with Leaf despite never starting a high school game.--- The thing is that they are selling his autographed card for $70 with the buyer hopes he turns into the next big thing. The card would be valuable perhaps. Interesting as we see more gambling and sports. lol -- Will some of these 14 year olds be able to handle the fame and fortune. What about their parents? What about their teammates? How will this work with their coaches? Will we see more transfers to bigger schools with great coaching? If so, what will this do to the local high schools. I realize many will say this is only a few getting this, but this is the tip of the iceberg.
