uc has caught ligtening in a bottle with coach bischel. these guys play so hard, and don't take plays off. they're throwbacks (are you listening, wes?). watched a lot of their games last year, and hope to do so this year. the season, and game day, tixs are very reasonable - the uc baseball stadium is a very fun place to watch a game, esp. with the kids or grandkinds. so, get your butts out there and cheer on some real bearcats

Per d1baseball.com, which ranks NCAA D1 teams, the Bearcats just cracked the Top 25 (exactly #25). Duke fell to #17. Only two other B12 teams are ranked: Okie State #19, TCU #22.

Per gobearcats.com, this is the first time that UC has been ranked ... ever.

After 7 inning in LVNV, the Bearcats are up on the "Hustlin' Rebels", 5-0. UNLV have managed just 2 hits. Their starter threw 91 pitches in just 2.2 IP. [He must've spent some time studying my "How to Pitch" training video, with clips of me firing at will.]

        Final: UC 6-0.

Great comeback victory today. Trailing, 9-7, in the 9th, the Cats rattled the ball all over the yard, scoring three times, then put the "Hustlin' Rebels" down 1-2-3, ending it on a K looking.

The final game of the series will be tomorrow night at 9:05 ET.

The Bearcats moved up to #23 in the d1baseball.com Week 2 rankings. As one might expect, the rankings are dominated by the SEC (11 teams) & ACC (6 teams). The B1G has only #11 OR.

In perusing the list, you have to go deep into the rankings to find the first B12 team, which happens to be ... UC. Only one other appears, TCU #25. Okie State are #27.

The Cats took a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the 9th but, once again, couldn't hold it, falling 4-3. The inning started with a walk, a bean ball, and a sacrifice bunt. The next hitter drilled a double into the right field corner to seal UC's fourth loss, all in the opponents' final at-bats.

Same time at UC San Diego tonight (9:05 ET).

yeah, they've had a couple of tough ones - they need to figure out a way to close these games out

The Bearcats bounced back nicely from last night's walkoff loss at UC San Diego. Tonight, Nathan Taylor pitched a gem, going 7 innings and throwing 100 pitches. The offense just gradually pulled away, with no long, productive innings. UC did leave a ton of runners on base, including two with the bags loaded. Final: 5-2.

On Saturday, the series will continue, with the first pitch at 4:05. Naturally, this will overlap the basketball Bearcats' efforts to stun Houston.

The Bearcats played sleepily on Sunday and never got anything going. UCSD gradually pulled away for a 5-0 win, dropping the Cats to 5-6 on the season. UC are no longer are ranked by d1baseball.com.

The Toledo Rockets will be in town tomorrow for the home opener at 3:00. The Rockets are 4-6, including 1-3 at Oregon to open the season.

Following that, the Bearcats will host Canisius for a four-game series this weekend, with a DH on Saturday, starting at 1:00. It will be $1 dog night on Friday (6:00). The DH will overlap UC's basketball game in Stillwater (3:00). The Golden Griffins are winless in six games, three at James Madison and three at NC State. The Wolfpack beat their staff up in that series. They have scored 18 runs total, with 11 in one game.

The Bearcats took care of the Canisius Golden Griffins today, 13-5. The win got UC back over .500 at 7-6. Canisius remain winless (0-7) and continued their sketchy pitching.

The two teams are now in a scoreless affair in the DH nightcap, with the Bearcats batting in the bottom of the 4th.

End of 5: UC 4-0. The bats came alive and the Cats hit bullets.

                              End of 6: UC 6-0.

Final: UC 7-0. The Cats are up to 8-6, with a game each day this weekend against Canisius.

The Bearcats put the Golden Griffins away early on their way to a 10-1 victory this afternoon. The Cats are now 9-6. It's obvious that Canisius doesn't have much, as they remain winless, and have been noncompetitive in all except one game. The fourth and final game of the series will take place tomorrow at 1:00.
