    Tonight, Chad Brendel said that he has heard from his contacts that, of the three official visits that TX PF Dillon Mitchell has taken thus far, UC made the strongest impression. However, there is a supply-and-demand problem right now regarding quality players, especially big men. More than half of P4 teams have two or more roster openings, but there just aren't enough top players left to fill all of the holes. The Tarheels are trying to get him on campus, and Mitchell plans to visit Auburn.

    The players (and their agents) know they have the advantage and are holding out to see what else can develop. I wouldn't expect any key UC target, such as Mitchell, to commit just yet.

      that means nothing until the NILs are compared.

        • Great Osobor, who we weren't chasing, has committed to Washington. This is notable because they broadcasted his NIL money totals. He's got 2 Million in deals lined up. This is the kind of money some of these guys are getting in the form of NIL endorsement contracts and collective deals.

            USC freshman Bronny James is declaring for the 2024 NBA Draft. James, 19, also is entering NCAA transfer portal to maintain flexibility. The combo guard will work out for and visit NBA teams and make a draft decision based on evaluation.
            @ShamsCharania
            Sources: Bronny James is expected to stay in the 2024 NBA Draft. The USC freshman has been fully cleared to play in the league as part of Fitness to Play panel and will participate in all pre-draft activities starting with the Draft Combine this week.

              What do you imagine Sean Stewart got. Let us stop pretending that they like the coach and that is the major factor. It is important, but a big check helps. Heck PWOs are getting between 1-200,000.

                The interesting thing here is that Great Osobor must like the coach. He played two years under Danny Sprinkle at Montana State, then followed Sprinkle to Utah State this year, and then is following Sprinkle to Washington -- so on some level you'd think they wouldn't have to try that hard to get him to Washington. But I think you're going to see programs overpay for kids now -- especially where there may be a bunch of unused NIL funds available at this point later in the cycle. There was a report on Friday of Vanderbilt or someone making a massive offer to Michigan State's A.J. Hoggard -- a good but not great player at MSU.

                  It doesn't hurt, but do you not think if another school offered more, that he would jump. Sprinkle knows what he is getting and I bet that he believes 2 million is cheap for a coach on the floor who knows his system. He has to make an impression his first year. New school and a new conference. -- Concerning overpayment - that is just going to be the going wage until revenue sharing and then who knows how they can be gotten around. Sean S. loved CWM, but tOSU coach he liked too and the experts said that UC couldn't begin to match the NIL. Some of these kids were poor. Others were well to do, but few turn down large checks. That is today's reality. 300,000 doesn't really buy 5 stars on today's market.

                    • Interesting note that Wes Miller mentioned on Arriten Page, on BCJ he mentioned he had mono last year and think it affected his play a lot. Mentioned we only saw a fraction of his talent at USC and has one of the highest front court ceilings in the country.

                                Portal update: Riley Kugel won't play at Kansas, per sources. Bill Self told @TheAndyKatz Monday Kugel's future w/ KU was "up in the air." Kugel (9.2 ppg @ Florida) is on CBS Sports' list of notable 2024 transfers. He's being recruited again by high-majors.
                                Kugel is headed to Mississippi State - I wonder what happened there (maybe he just got recruited over at KU).
