This article from a Texas site supports my my opinion on Texas somewhat.

Boren's bosses evidently don't want expansion or us as evidenced by this quote "Weitzenhoffer explained why the Big 12 stands to gain little in expanding to schools most commonly mentioned -- Boise State, BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Houston, Memphis and South Florida, among others. "Those are the ones I keep hearing," Weitzenhoffer said. "They have no seating capacities in their stadiums. They really don't build them up. They really don't have any TV. I really don't know what we have to gain by that."
"The problem with Cincinnati is ... then they start getting all this money," Weitzenhoffer said. "Then what do we do? We build up somebody we don't want to build up."
I don't understand why he would have a problem with us "building up" with an increase in money.

I want put a little perspective on Weitzenhoffer. He's 76 and the music theatre school is named after him. He's a Broadway and London West End producer and was appointed to the BoR in 2003 by the Governor. I'm not saying he doesn't understand because he might but I think it's reasonable to guess that sports administration is not his forte'Last edited by Lobot; 05-10-2016, 07:19 AM.Brent Wyrick

That may be true Brent but that type of "less is more" backward thinking seems to be quite prevalent in the Little 10 ( the Big 12 doesn't even have 12 members). There's no leadership and no vision for the future at the Little 10. I've read before that Texas' plan for expansion is to wait for the ACC to break up and then invite Florida State and Miami. LOL. That's not gonna happen. Let's see......if I'm FSU or Miami or Clemson and I have my pick of choosing a real national power conference to be in like the SEC or B1G, or a conference like the Little 10 where one school (Texas) makes all the decisions and keeps most of the money, I wonder which conference they pick? If you said the Little 10 you would be wrong.Originally posted by Lobot View PostI want put a little perspective on Weisenhoffer. He's 76 and the music theatre school is named after him. The longer the Little 10 stands pat, the more their brand will diminish as a power conference. Too bad they don't understand that.

Boren and Weitzenhoffer have issued statements clarifying their positions. Everyone is on Boren's page now.

More major/traditional sports news coverage on this topic, lately means a lot of smoke. That could be fire and it could be hot air. Either way, I'm happy for UC to be in the discussion and at least have a decent chance. This article is pretty telling because the WVU AD had some experience as assistant ACC commish during expansion to add Loserville, Pitt...even though not ESPN or CBS.

I would sign on to this even though it would NEVER happen.

In the case where you can sit through 43 minutes of podcast on expansion there's this from Bruce Feldman, Stewart Mandel and Dennis Dodds.

Big 12 is a freakin mess. Boren is laying the groundwork to leave for the SEC if Texas won't agree to reform (they won't).
They (OU and Texas) are an old married couple who wish they could stay married, but have no reason to do so anymore.
Our choice will be between a hobbled Big 12 and the AAC.
