Note that this is a pay site. I want to inform our viewing audience that if the publication, in this case, the NY Times, is located in a public library, you can read it on-line for free through your library. I learned that trick by reading the Business Carier through the Cincy-Hamilton County Library.

ESPN senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski has agreed to become the general manager of the men's basketball program at St. Bonaventure, he told ESPN.
        ...
The GM role has become more common in college basketball in recent years, as the transfer portal has made wholesale roster turnover an inherent part of the sport. The role includes Name Image and Likeness allocation, recruiting and supporting successful Bonnies coach Mark Schmidt.

Without completely going off here, I'll just say college sports is now a business in reality and businesses are going to pass expenses onto the consumer at every opportunity to maintain profit margin. (and solvency)

            • NIL isn't so much a fiasco as some players have to realize they don't have the marketing power as players with more experience, accomplishments, or in higher profile positions. A reserve offensive lineman making a six figure NIL is what is wrong with the process. It reeks of pay-4-play which isn't allowed nor should it be. Some players have more value or draw selling merchandise, signing sessions, or promoting a product. A ten percent increase in tickets with proceeds to go directly to players should be cause for an NCAA investigation. You don't raise money for NIL, they is either a market or there isn't.
