The Sooners countered with a 3-run blast of their own in the 8th. Final: 12-8.

UC trailed OU 6-0 heading to the bottom of the 6th. They struck for 3 runs, then blew up for 7 more in the 8th, capped off by a grand slam by CF Josh Hegemann. Final: 10-6.

The Cats salvaged the series finale & head to the B12 tourney week.

I believe the Cats are locked into the #5 seed. The only team that can catch them from behind is Kansas, and UC took 2 of 3 from the Jayhawks a few weeks ago. Kansas have 2 games left, but they already have 13 B12 losses (same as UC). This would give the Bearcats a Tuesday game with the #8 seed, which probably won't be determined until tomorrow.

After today's win, UC are #55 in the RPI.

The brackets haven't been published yet, but it's apparent that the #5 Cats will play UCF, who finished #8. #1 OK & either TX or Okie State will get byes on Tuesday. Beyond that, #3 vs #10, #4 vs #9, UC vs UCF, #6 vs #7.

Cincinnati Opens Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship vs. UCF on Tuesday

The University of Cincinnati baseball team, the No. 5 seed in this week's Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship, will face No. 8 seed UCF in its first game on Tuesday at 5 PM ET at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

The Bearcats (31-23) faced the Knights (33-18) on April 26-28 in Orlando and took two out of three games in the series. UC won the first game, 9-4, and the rubber match, 8-2, while UCF won game two by a score of 5-2.

The 2024 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship, which features an increase to 10 teams in a modified double-elimination format, is the third consecutive season Globe Life Field has served as the backdrop to the event and the fifth time (2002, 2004) Arlington has served as host. The Big 12 is the only Conference to host its baseball championship at the permanent home of a Major League Baseball team, the Texas Rangers, and the only one to crown a champion in a climate-controlled facility.
